I marked the full driving course today and found some extra curves to throw in. Most of the turns are marked as I proposed earlier so shouldn't be any problem knowing where to turn just watch for the yellow Xs and red dots. If you don't see a mark before a turn or intersection go straight. I ran out of yellow paint today so I'll finish the markings tomorrow and measure the mileage.

Remember the Holiday Laps on Friday. No rain, sunny and turbo weather. Arrive at the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville around 8 AM and we'll leave after breakfast, between 9-9:30 for the 100 minute drive up to VIR. If you are going to be late or are driving up on your own then we'll see you at the gate around 11:00 am.

Then Saturday we'll gather at the New Light Baptist Church parking area about 3 miles up New Light Road after the Hwy 98 intersection. The church and parking lot will be on the left side of the road if you're headed north. Plan on getting there around 2:00 PM and we will leave no later than 2:30.

Be sure to come with a full tank for both drives.

I have Christmas party to attend this Saturday, so I won't be able to make the Drive or the RRDI meet. But I will be at VIR on Friday.

count me in. what time do you wanna meet?

the car is exhausted, and aligned. she is really quiet right now, because no muffler shop will make an exhaust system for you without a catalytic. i will be looking to remedy that soon, but probably not by saturday.

anyhow, gonna try and fix some knick knack stuff today.

see you guys this weekend.

So you won't be driving it Saturday or what? I'd say we can meet at Char-Grill at about 1pm or 1:30 but I want to see if I can meet up with Jason first so I can get that short shifter. What is his number? He said he has it ready and I have the money I just can't get ahold of him.

1:30? Ill be there.

So seriously, no exhaust shop will touch your car if it doesnt have a cat on it? Damn. Thats going to be a problem. I just bought a header and presilencer, but that will obviously not bolt up to the cat back I have. Looks like an RB y-pipe and muffler extensions are in my future.

I'd appreciate a little educat'n on a couple things to bring my vocabulary up to date...

I presume a presilencer is a small muffler (very free) or expansion chamber located somewhere before the main muffler, if ya got one... would that be right?

My '67 Camaro had something like that in each exhaust and for the life of me I can't get the name off the tip of my tongue, er fingers... ah ha, resonators.... yeah they was resonators... essentially little mufflers ahead of the funky transverse main muffler them things had... I special ordered my car, and afterwards found out I could of had them leave them off, and was po'd 'cause I hadn't (less restriction, more rumble)... later a couple buddies, with other pony cars, had their mufflers swapped out to Cherry Bombs w/ a straight pipe from there right out the back... pretty loud... no issues with the cops so somehow I got the idea that I could just take the beeeg ol main one off the Camaro and run just the resonators... worked great, sounded good, didn't cost anything... then I was glad I hadn't known about 'delete resonator' option...

I'd like to know just what an RB y-pipe and muffler extensions are? Muffler extensions sounds like just another piece of pipe placed inline to make up for shorter mufflers, but somehow doubt it... so, could you please clear up my ignorance of these terms...

TIA...

i had them make the exhaust. it is ready to go for saturday.

what i meant is that it is very quiet, because they had to make it with a catalytic; state law requires them to. i want to cut the cat out and run a straight pipe. mainly for flow, but also sound.

eric, PMing you Jason's #.

presilencer is essentially a resonator.

The Header/presilencer is setup to keep the exhaust from each rotor seperate from the other. The y-pipe attaches to the pre-silencer and runs back towards the diffferential as two pipes before flaring out to eeither side and attaching to the mufflers.

The muffler extensions make up for the fact that the stock muffler has a 1 footish pipe already on it that runs back to the stock y pipe. So you are right. They are just extensions to make up for the fact that aftermarket mufflers dont have that extension on them.

I was hoping that I could get a muffler shop to fix me up with a true dual exhaust coming off the pre-silencer, but it sounds like they wont, so Im going to have to spend some cash on an RB y-pipe. I was really hoping to get my header on tomorrow so it would be ready for the drive saturday. Unless I get creative with my mig welder and try to turn an exhaust tip into a ypipe......

Doubtful

BC

btw, be happy you didnt go with the resonator delete. there is a nasty resonance at around 3000rpms on SBC's that the resonator gets rid of. If you hadnt gotten it you would have been displeased with the cruising sound, im sure of it.

haha

that depends on what type of resonators you have

My LS1 resonator sounds like a honda civic at about 3000 rpm when cruising...

but the ones i had on the camaro sounded good at all rpms...

That is a SICK looking exhaust by the way.... true duals all the way back

and if anyone wants an exhaust shop.. Henrys on capital.. I got true duals installed, without cats. IM sure you could work something out with them as well.

Can you say 'Off Road Use Only'... to seal the deal, tote it in on a trailer (sure you can borrow one if needed), remove tags, put numbers on (even if just shoe polish)... 'Yes sirre... that there thing sure do whoop up on them beeg ol 'merican V-8's Bro...'

Jes a suggestion...

awesome. i knew someone around here would be cool with exhausts Though I do see the merit in towing it in....

I learned my lesson on installing headers without having a shop already picked out when i put headers on my gtp years ago and then had to drive around for two days with open headers beacuse no shop in 20 miles would touch my exhaust since the cat was removed. finally found one.

So the next thing I need is a place to get my car inspected where they wont look too hard at the pre-silencer and will just call it a cat...

any ideas?
