Thank you, Johny and Karen for providing the entier group with the mansion! If you had not done that, we would not have had the opportunity to fellowship with each other as a group!

I had a blast! I hope that I'm not working next weekend for the meeting.

Also, just wanted to apologize to those of you whose heads I bit off about my driving. It turns out it was my struts are very worn, considering they are the stock struts, and the car just hit 190,000 miles on our trip. I will be getting nice stuff this summer, once other priorities are taken care of.

Thank you for your concern, I'm sorry I was a poop.

Had a blast this weekend! I got to run the dragon, do a little drinking, and even get rear ended on the way home. WTF?! you say. Yeah, I managed to tame the dragon, make it straight up a mountain on the way back from maryville, get no tickets despite the highspeed return to raleigh, but somehow, just somehow, managed to get rearended by one of my own caravan members!!!!! AHHH!!! just messing with you Joey, it was just a love tap. It is funny as hell to me. We laughed all the way home about it.

Sorry if I was an *** to anyone, the lack of sleep really got to me. I slept from 5pm yesterday til about 7 this morning non-stop.

Chris I really am impressed with that T/A. I wish we would have had a chance to really run it together with a clean pass. I wanted to see the difference in the our two cars.

NOW EVERYONE POST PICTURES!!!!!

I was really impressed by the TransAm too. I talk a lot of **** about them sometimes because I used to drive a Firebird Formula (stock) and I hated it, but that car could NEVER run the gap like that. Now I kinda want another one

Of course, it takes a hell of a driver to push it like that, too.

Next RRDI, Saturday, April 22

I know how everyone feels after a weekend in the mountains, beautiful scenery, fresn air, quiet, peaceful surroundings just to relax, commune with nature, and leave all the stress of the working world behind.

Yeah, right! what scenery, my eyes were watering too much from the wankel exhaust and too busy looking at all the rotaries and avoiding the ditches,

fresh air? If it was there didn't find any, did breath a lot of CO and NO2,

quiet? every heard a rotary with a straight pipe at 6K rpm, how 'bout 50 of 'em,

peaceful surroundings, yeah, maybe after all the rotaries shut down

relax? Running 60 mph and making 318 curves in 11 miles along with the elevation changes and keeping one eye on the road ahead, the rear end of the car in front and the other eye on the rearview mirror watching for cops,

commune with nature? maybe when you had to run behind a tree and water the weeds,

Leave all the stress of the working world behind? Yeah did that!

Appreciate everyone that went to take on the Dragon's challenge and represent the RRDI in fine fashion. The Char Grill is open next weekend but the next RRDI ain't 'til the 22nd. Now that you've whipped the dragon, or been whipped the challenge is to find some interesting roads to drive 'til the next time.

Damn, that was a good time. I was also so happy Johny and Karen provided the mansion, and cleaned up after all of their children (us), haha, sorry about that. I was also impressed by Chris and his TA, and the Cobras too of course. Never thought big-bodies would hang like that. Maybe if Rob gets some new suspension parts he won't wear another hole in his fender piece, haha. I'm in no position to talk though, I'm suprised I don't have a whole in my actual fender. I did wonder though, am I part of the Death Squad too? I need to learn how to heel-toe without taking it off the side of the mountain, haha. I was slowing Chris down that last run while Josh was wearing down that Blackhawk's back tire, haha. I think the frog is still on the front of the car too, I didn't check this morning. Oh, and my pictures are in 16-tile format instead of one, so if you cut up the picture you could make a flip-book and it would look like motion, haha. I'll see if I can get them fixed somehow and post them up here. Actually, I'll go ahead and post one so you can see what I'm talking about.

I tried to post the pic so it's too big, so I'll try to post the photobucket link or something.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00119.jpg

EDIT: Also, a couple suggestions:

1. I think we should go again maybe this Fall or sometime, or at least sometime before next year so I can get my fix, haha.

2. I was talking to Josh about this, and was wondering if anyone would be interested. Instead of meeting at Char-Grill and just talking, I personally would like to learn more about the car, and maybe if someone had a problem with their car we could go to their house and help them, and those of us that wanted to learn more could get into it, and anyone who didn't could just talk like normal. Does anyone think that's do-able?

if you yelled "charge!" when we rolled up the mountain then yes you are indeed part of the death squad.

i didnt know that you were gonna do sequence shots. lol

also i second the motion on starting to have some tech/fix-it days.

I definitely feel like the fix-it idea would be good for the whole group. A couple of y'all have already been helping me out lately when I was working on things that I was unfamiliar with doing... it would be neat to do things as a whole group.

I also love the idea of going as a Raleigh group later this year to the Dragon.

Yeah i am definately up for going again

Sorry if i seemed overconfident or an ******* when retorting all those f-body comments, i myself was very impressed at how it went.. thanks

i think 1 weekend of all the RRDI people in one house pushed everyones nerves, so sorry if i got on anyones nerves.. lack of sleep sucks.

stina, i really was concerned when you fell back in the big caravan, so sorry if i came across like an *** that time.. When you get new suspension i am definately down for helping you change it.. thats something i have plenty of experience with.

Josh you have one badd *** car, i would gladly trade with you any day.. That one run where you walked me was what made the weekend worthwhile.. Hopeuflly next time it will be alittle dryer and less trafficed and i will get it on film.

overall i had one hell of a time.. glad im home to get some rest though..

I would love to go sometime after July, I should have the TEIN coilovers installed and the new rims and tires. It would be a great way to break them in!

.... are you kidding me my auto would walk his car anyday... more like this... Yeah right, I wish... haha that thing is a beast. I only wish I was as fast. One day!

Oh one more part to go before the swap is underway. A light weight flywheel. Once I have that I will have the swap done on a saturday. I already have my clutch/brake pedals installed and wired. my clutch master cylinder installed and lines connected. My goal is 2 months and she is swaped to a 5 speed.

Count me in if RRDI goes to Deals Gap for a run or two. I just got promoted to Hazard Materials Manager at UPS last week. so $1,700 a month working 3 hours a day 5 days a week is good stuff!

Keep us posted if this can happen or not in the fall!

Oh and I went up to Winston Salem yesterday to get 2 extra stock rims with Nitto Semi Drag Slicks on, manual brake peddle, clutch master cylinder. Silver93 was with me and we were in my auto FD doing some stop light launches and unkown to me a bike is going to try to race me. But he never signaled he wanted to race.

I take off in L1 with the transmatic engaged and I just have the peddle to the floor while shifting gears at 7,200 rpms. I didn't know it but when we got up to 100mph within 2 seconds of me letting off the bike comes screaming past me WOT.... It scared me it was so loud... haha I guess it was a race. But when I got in the left turning lane to make a U-Turn there was a guy in a blazer beside of me just starring.. haha. We made a U-Turn and went back to his house with no other problems.

Just a race I guess with a bike. Not really sure if it was or not. But it sure felt like one when I let off and 1-2 seconds later he comes screaming by me WOT.

Cheers,
Dan

Hey, a fix-it day isn't a bad idea. I get get someone to install a new suspension for me. Err..I mean, help me out with it. Yeah, that's it.

We can practice on Stina's car, then when we actually know what we are doing we can move on to my car

Thought I'd apologize for jumping down your throat before you even had a chance to explain yourself after that first run. It felt like everyone was attacking me as soon as I stepped out of the car, and I thought you were doing the same.

I do feel like next year, we need to sleep more. That way we're able to have more fun as a group.

But yeah, I'd love to have you teach me more about suspension. That's definitely an area that I would love to learn the most about, since our cars rely on THAT for everything! Who knew an FC would drive like a freakin minivan?? lol

That's not too difficult of a job, if we have the proper tools. A lift would be helpful. David did my tranny swap for me this past fall, because i was in class. I told him everything he would need to do, and he did it. He was scared he would screw it up, but it really isn't that hard if you're just taking one item out and putting in another one. Not hard on an FC anyway.

I can't wait to get the FD, and REALLY learn what it's like to bitch at a Rotary.

Glad you made it back. Did I read something about you breaking your car again? What happened? It couldn't have been the clutch, the diff, cause you've fixed those. Tranny problems?

Yeah, the clutch fork pivot stud broke, lost use of the clutch. Rev-matched it all the way to my parents house, haha. I decided not to worry about fixing it this weekend and left it in TN. I got back to J-ville just fine, but that is a whole nother story.
