Guys, make sure you are copy/pasting both lists when you add yourself under one of them, because we don't want any confusion.

We have about 4 threads on the RRDI site about Deal's Gap. Most of us are staying at the Smokey Mountain Mansion. Get a hold of Johny Ligon (johnyzoom) on the RRDI site for info about payment for space at the mansion.

i think the mansion is pretty much booked. it is down to people sleeping on the back porch, but johny should be able to tell you for sure.

anybody else caravaning on friday?

So far I have from here and RRDI:

1. PerkyStina - Christina
2. AntiVenom7 - Josh
3. mrthundercleese - Bobby
4. sinoeun- Dave
5. Air(rrdi.org) - Chris

For leaving at noon.

Eric, when are you leaving?

Ray, are you going? Also, please, find out about when Rick and Jeremy are leaving, or if you have Rick's email, please, PM me with it if you get a chance.

Steve, where did you wanna meet us on the way down, or are we leaving to late for ya?

If noon is too late for everyone let us know. Personally, I could leave earlier. If we can get a consensus on an earlier time, that would be great.

I know it is still a month away, but I am just trying to iron out the details.

Apexi AVC-R installation ??

Hi,

This is Dan from Greensboro with the MB auto FD that the woman ripped into. I just installed my Downpipe and intake with my new aluminum AST. Also started on my Black interior conversion!

Oh and before the mods only my primary turbo spooled 5 psi if I was luckey. With the new mods boosts 12-8-10 boost pattern.

I bought an Apexi AVC-R to help bring the primary turbo down to 10psi for a boost pattern of 10-8-10 instead of 12-8-10.

Does anyone have any experiance installing the Apexi AVC-R or setting it up. I am scared to mess with my ECU wiring harness wires, afraid I am going to mess something up.

I just need someone to install it and help me get my boost pattern under control.

ugh the car really scared the crap out of me when she boosted 12-8-10 for the first time. I was holding on for dear life. People say the auto FD sucks...lol...yea.... NO. I got so boost happy, she drank a full tank of gas and started to overheat I just caught the temp guage rise maybe 2mm on the temp guage, pulled over in a gas station and let her sit for 10 minutes. Drove her easy so she wouldn't start to overheat anymore. Next mod is a Koyo Radiator.

I am still going to convert to 5 speed this summer. All I need now to complete the conversion is the manual guage cluster, in dash wiring harness, Master cylinder, and clutch fork assembly for the tranny. The rest is sitting in my shed.
Then it is 5 speed FD .

Let me know on the apexi avc-r installation please!

-Dan

i have the AVC-R in mine. it is a bit of a pain to use with twins. you have to cap off a bunch of lines and actuators, and its a pain to get your boost pattern right. on that note i can help you with any questions. i will have to delve into my pre-single memory

I'll have NC DOT road maps at the next Drive-In for anyone that needs one for the drive up to Deals Gap. Yeah, they are the poorman's and gal's GPS but they will work. Need someone going up with each group on Thursday and Friday that went last year. Don't want anyone to get lost after you pass Asheville.

Hey on anothe topic, has anyone heard about the quasiturbine engine? I just found out abouit it today: http://www.quasiturbine.com/

Speaking of maps... Directions to the mansion would be nice. The site is kinda slack on telling you how to get there or exactly where it is.

Whats up ?

I wont make the meet tomorrow but I think we need to decide weather or not we are staying at the mansion Fri night for dinner or will we try to meet up with the other people coming in.
My vote is to stay at the mansion but Ill go with the majoirty. Last year everyone else came in so late it was hardly worth it.

So to the people coming in Fri we'll have a cold beer and a nice meal waiting ( if we stay at the mansion).

THE PHONE # TO THE MANSION IS (828)-497-1432 there is no cell phone service. The road name is Atoah if you want to mapquest
Also I will have some signs made to show the Fri group the way to the mansion.

To Recap Cold beer, good food, good friends, signs to show the way, Rx7 & 8's and curves.

It doesn't get any better than this!

Everybody who owns a rotary and lives within a 120 miles of Raleigh should be there. We should have good turnout after the last Drive-In and tonight's weather forecast, fairly warm and no rain.

We'll continue to talk about the Tail of the Dragon trip, I'll have rotary maintenance checklists for everyone going, NC DOT Highway maps, better known as an analog GPS navigation system. We'll also discuss next weekend's rotor fest in Charlotte and try to determine who is going from the RRDI and decide on when to leave and how to get there.

Since we haven't had a door prize drawing in a while I thought we might have a drawing tonight after everyone shows up. Everyone be sure to bring your driver's licenses to participate in the drawing, I have a couple of prizes for the drawing tonight.

All are invited, the Drive-Ins happen anytime after 5:00 PM at the Char Grill, 9601 Strickland Road in nawth Rawley. Clean up your rotary, if its in road worthy condition, and come show it off tonight.

Anyone heard about the "Quasiturbine" rotary engine concept? Go to How Stuff Works and search on quasiturbine. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/quasiturbine5.htm

March 11 RRDI

We had a great turnout of cars and people for the RRDI this past weekend. Check out the pics here: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=517879

4 RX8's, 4 FDs, 4 FCs, and a Nissan 240, a Nissan 200SX, Firebird, and a Toyota. 16 cars and no late arrivals except the guys from Wilmington but they had a long drive up. Then again they had just bought a beautiful black FD to make the time and miles pass fast.

We joked about my FD not having a high enough CFM (Cash Flow per Mile) last meet and wouldnt you know it, while I was under the hood this weekend, doing a radiator flush, I discovered stuff that needs replacing. I had a fan go on the fritz and discovered a fuel leak. This would explain the slightly elevated temps, bad starts, and unreasonably crappy gas mileage. I guess she needed some extra $$$ invested before she was willing to make the trek to Deals Gap. Oh well, I guess I should be happy that nothing broke for the last 6 months or so.

Yea or a real "Char Grilled" FD for that matter. high temps + fuel smell =

BTW Did you take out the block drain plug, located on the mid-housing, just above the oil pan rail? If not, you left a lot of fluid sitting in the engine block. The plug is just a scaled down version of the oil drain plug - straight threads, with a crush washer. I can't find it mentioned anywhere in my '94 shop manual, so I just tightend it down with a 14mm wrench (closed side). On my car, there is a blind tapped hole next to it, with nothing in that hole. Here is a pic:

---------------------------

I hope this helps alot!

BTW best coolant ratio for FD that I have found was 85:14:1 ratio. 85% Distilled Water: 14% antifreeze: 1% water wetter!

oh and dan don't let 'em get under you skin, this is the same guy that likes picking fights with high school girls. HAHA!
