I need to have the compression checked, I can drive the car there. I didn't see anything in the link ....I'm sorta slow ,so bear with me.... I have heard of people taking their cars to mazda dealers to get this done,I was just looking if other shops have them....I don't want to leave my car at the dealership and let somebody mess up my car... You can use a regular compression tester. Just hold down the relief valve while someone else turns the engine over. You can get one at any auto parts store for about $15-$20.

Compression nubmers in PSI should be anywhere above 90. The higher the better.

And also... I would avoid going to a dealership, (or any non-rotary repair shop), for any service done to the car.

Ya, leave the trailing plugs in, and use the leading holes for the compression test. Make sure you disable the fuel pump, (Pull EGI comp fuse in 2nd Gens, or pull the Fuel Pump Relay in 3rd gens... dunno right off how to do it in a 1st Gen), make sure the battery is fully charged, and have whoever is turning the car over hold the gas pedal to the floor during the test.
