rain

I know we'd like to see some rain around here, but listen to this complaint from one of our NE brethren:

"me and my buddy were out cruising checking out the flooding in southern washington today, we were following some bigger trucks on back roads cince the freeway and almost every other road was closed in centralia and chehalis when we came to some water over the road. we figuerd we could make it and if not the guys in front would sttop and help, but when my friend got in too deep in my 80 sa it stalled out causing me to have to stop as well. i was in my 81 gsl, and i hooked up a chain to the sa and tried to pull it out, but water was already coming up past the bottom of the doors. the 80 slid off the road and started to pull the 81 with it, i lost traction and got pulled in so deep it stalled too, all i could do was get out and watch both of my cars float away. and none of the trucks even stoped to help. i'll try to go and find them tomorrow, but they will probaly be ruiend."

Yes sir, you gotta like the weather down here in SE.

Here's the whole post:

Driving a car around on flooded streets, fits nicely into the bad things category.

Not to be a nitpicker but its the NW not NE.

Who the hell drives any rx7 in the rain? They're too old and prone to rust now to do that. Thank god theres a drought here

I just moved here from Pittsburgh, PA last summer, can't wait to tell them on my group meeting call today that its going to be 70 degrees this weekend. They just got 3 to 6 inches of snow this week.

Nitpick away tg, you are of course exactly right, my mistake (up too late again). I'm surprised Mike didn't catch it first.

A little snow every few years is a real treat for folks in the Atlanta region. But not this Saturday, they are calling for low 70s and sunny in the Jefferson area. It seems there's a bit of a warm spell coming this way (I could claim credit, but that would seem immodest).

Perfect day for a rotor fest.

I can tell tht you guys aren't from the WET Coast. If you didn't drive your 7 in the rain, you would only be able to drive your 7 about 3 months out of the year. Fall, Winter, Spring tend to be grey skies and constant drizzle/rain. Rust isn't really a prob as you would think. Little to no snow and no road salt. My 7 spent most of it's life in Oregon in the rain and there isn't a bit of rust. Although there is quite a bit of rain there, flooding is pretty rare.

Wish I could go to your Dec. 8th meet. I need to do some work on the 7. I'll meet up with you guys in the spring, though.

Probably. lol. It's okay. It was the constant grey skies/rain with little to no sun that gets so depressing. Although, I miss the Oregon summers. Sunny/dry everyday and no humidity. I'm sure you guys get worse humidity down there than we do in VA, but last summer was pretty brutal for me. I'm not used to the soaking wet air in the summer.

Have a great time at the meet. Sounds like it will be a good turn out.

Not bad here around Atlanta, remember we are at 1000 feet above sea level, second only to Denver for a major metropolitan area.

Sounds like you could use a little break from that depressing cold wet VA weather (I know, I was just up there attending a meeting in DC over the weekend), why don't you take a little break, do yourself a favor and come on down? The guest room is available to out of state travelers!

Dry, sunny weather tomorrow, in the 70s.

Ray

It's been cold the last few days, but it is supposed to be around 60-65 this weekend here. Low 70's on Mon/Tues. Thanks for the invite, but I can't make it this time out. It's going to be quite a drive when I do come. I'll probably have to leave very early or start heading down the night before. It will be the length of the drive from Charlotte + 3.5 hours. I'll bring the wife too when I come. She isn't much into cars, but she likes to meet new people.

Oh... the depressing weather that I was talking about is in Oregon. Beatuiful summers. Wet/grey the rest of the year. This is western Oregon that I'm talking about. East of the Cascades is totally different (high desert climate).
