Well, I think I broke an apex seal on the Bridgeport today. Was accelerating from a light and Went up to 6-7k rpm and then I felt it, the sudden. Loss power. Pulled over and felt like it was running on one rotor. Going to check compress tomorrow.

Well, 90psi in the rear, 0psi in the front. Another rebuild. I think the housing is probably gouged. Looked through the spark plugs hole and missing one apex seal.

Oof that's a tough break. How many miles did you have on it out of curiosity?
And if it's still carb'd are you considering EFI for reliability/longevity?

EFI's are like AR-15's.

They should be illegal.

Not sure. I bought the engine used.
I'm going to stay carb'd.

You know, when it's all said and done, a good old Nikki on a stock 12A in an FB is the Gold Standard.

SA if you can afford one.

Looks like the apex seal had a hard time reaching over that huge gold plated exhaust port.

What's next?

Glad to see you guys are still doing this thing! I went to an Rx7 meet today near Dallas, and it definitely doesn't have the same feel as our OGTA meetings did.

Man I need to get another rotary though. I've been itching real bad.

Edit : Ray, do you remember what happened to that RX4 shell? Man I regret not making that work.

Howdy Quad! I hope all is well with you. Are you still in the military?

I understand the itch, once a Rotor Head, always a Rotor Head.

Your RX-4 sat in the driveway for about a year, then went on to a better life with another OGTA, Ben I think.

You can find references and pics in this thread if you search long enough, here's a couple:

We're hoping to see you at a future OGTA meeting, in an SA or earlier, if possible.

Not military any more. Got out late 2019, right before the world ended. Glad it went to a good home. I couldn't remember. I've got a lead on a 79, but he doesn't have compression numbers and it's not currently running. The original 12a died, and he says the one in it now came out of a running car. $7500 just feels so steep to not know if it runs. I just found an 83 I'm gonna to look at soon.

So, the 83 GSL looks real good, but the carb needs tuned. What do you guys use as a reference for it? It's a Nikki, but I don't know what has been done. He says it's been rebuilt and rehogged?

Hoping for pics of the 9-6-22 OGTA meeting.

Quad, you can't go wrong with an 83 GSL with a nikki problem.

Buy it, we'll help you sort out the nikki.

And post pics.

Yes sir. Picked it up earlier this week. Now I just gotta get a battery, hook up spark plugs, get an exhaust installed and she should run.
