Speaking of hardware and ranges, my dad was the DSO (Defensive Systems Operator) when he flew B-58's back in the '60'.
The B-58 was the first supersonic bomber, it flew Mach 2.
And it was damn near pretty as an FB:
Doing pretty well. 5yo started Kindergarten today and had a ball, 8mo little boy is doing great. I actually need to sell on the R3 RX-8 and parts car soon, but still keeping the REPU and RE5 of course.
Ray, I need to catch up with you and haven't had luck by text. Please give me a call or text when you can.
My dad flew them from 1961 to 1969 out of Bunker Hill AFB in Indiana.
As a kid I got to see them up close on a regular basis; I even had a shepherd/collie mix named Hustler.
I watched the predawn MITOs, sat in the pilot's seat and flew the simulator.
I crashed.
My dad was one of only two crew members to survive a flight where one crew member, the navigator, Charley Nash, decided to take his chances with the ejection capsule rather than stick with the plane, which was in a steep nose dive.
He was trapped in the capsule out in a corn field for a couple hours and the hatch took off some of his toes when it closed.
But he survived.
So did my dad and the pilot, they took a more comfortable trip back to Bunker in the crippled B-58.
Those guys were heroes.
Crit, I'll bet those kids are precious. And I hear you on the downsizing.
I've got six vehicles out in the yard, 5 Mazdas and a Jeep, need to get it down to 3.
It's not an RX-3, Ray. It's a blue RX-8 R3 - far too few OGTA points.I bought a parts car for it AND even pulled a third drivetrain from a scrapyard. It's more than I need to keep around the house.
Beautiful cars! Which is the parts car? the both look good!
The near car has a crunched hood and left fender is cut away. It was largely in-tact but not worth saving and it was binding on the door. Rather than risk damaging the door, I cut the panel off. The parts car runs, but the structure under the fender is bent, so it's not technically road-worthy. I bought it at an insurance auction and ultimately need to find a new home for them. I've never seen a car + parts car listed on Bring a Trailer, curious what's the best way to move them on. Sell separately, sell the daily and part out the other, or "some other plan". What do y'all think?
Part out the one and sell the other or you can sell both and hopefully whoever buys the can pick them up at the same time or make two trips! or if you can only sell the one, let me know the price on the wrecked one and I may get it for a future project.
As always, it was great seeing you and Cathy! Thanks for the parts and for spending some time with us. Aria had a blast and is very thankful for her gifts. Look forward to seeing you again!
I may be interested in the Rx8. When & where can it be seen. Thx
Come by any time - shot you a PM.

Tim, I'm so glad you asked. Back in the day, the girl got to show up on the seat of the RE5 for an OGTA first visit. But lo, the times have changed. Here he is after today's nap.
Nice pull on the caddy the other day Crit. Made my 12a feel like lawn mower engine.
Thanks Raul! You happened across the daughter's first-ever ride home after picking her up from school. I'm surprised our paths don't cross more often, and the FB sounds fantastic.
As far as a pull, it's a responsible family wagon - no fast-car shenanigans here.
BTW, tomorrow night is the next OGTA. What should I bring out, the new supercharged boinger or the R3? Sadly, I think the RE5 is off the menu this time (brrrr).

Responsibility first. Not bad for a worn out stock muffler. I couldn't make it out tonight, the 7 doesn't warm up enough with this cold weather.

Small world - I just left the Red Cloud Alpha and MPRC ranges at Ft Stewart, would have liked to have said hey. I'll shoot you a PM with contact info and we can talk about the car.
By the way I had my 1984 GSL's windshield replaced. However when I got back from Marietta yesterday I noticed the piece of trim at the top of the windshield was missing. Does anyone have one hey can spare?
