Our furnace decided to **** out at an excellent time... So mods on the FD will be limited over the next few months.
I got a set of replacement turbos, along with some goodies from Alex (lex99). He hooked me up with a good stock airbox, and Apexi intake kit if I decide to go that route, and an aftermarket down pipe. I bought nearly 40 feet of silicone vacuum hoses, plus 4 new check valves. I have new tie rod ends and steering rack bellows waiting to go on. Water temp and boost gauge is mounted, just have to finish the wiring. Need to wire in an e-fan-override switch. Drivers exterior door handle is fixed. I ordered heat wrap for the downpipe, too.
Hopefully I can get all of that on, topped off with a fancy Mazda oil filter, and she'll be back on the rode in a week or two.

Yep, both keep you warm at night.
Hey Brett, what's the problem with the furnace? I'll bet it can be fixed, but if you need to replace it I'll bet we can find a unit for half the price you'd have to pay a heating and air guy. I'm pretty good with this kind of equipment, send me an email with the problem, the model number and a photo and what you'd like to replace it with, I'll do some research.

I paid that much for a running 13B keg. If you want to learn, I have a complete S4 n/a with manifolds, wiring harness, etc sitting in my basement. Feel free to stop by and tear it apart :-) I also have another 13B already torn down, sitting apart on a table.
Shoot, I'd be interested in a GXL 13B and transmission for $200!
Brett got your email, sounds like an interesting project and opportunity to learn about your house's innards.
I'm not much familiar with geothermal systems like you've got, other than to wish I had one (my expertise is retrofitting with high efficiency mini-split systems).
But I'll bet Tommy is, he's a Geothermal Engineer.

Shoot, James (Qingdao) drove up for an OGTA meeting from Savannah one time with a 12A for a passenger seat and another 200 lbs. of parts scattered about the cabin.
Then did the return trip with a complete FB rear axle and another 200 lbs. of parts.
Who needs a truck?

So I let my FB sit for a few days and when I went to take it out for a bit last night I started to hear a rhythmic metal on metal sound (once per wheel revolution) before I even got out of the neighborhood. It gets worse on right hand turns and seeing as it's coming from driver-rear I'm guessing it's a bad wheel bearing. Does anyone know what the dealer/mechanic would charge to do both rear bearings? Is there anyone in Gwinnett that will do it for less if I buy the parts?
It might be the wheel bearing, or it might not.
The wheel bearings are not expensive, but changing them out is a fair amount of work, so you should be sure that's the problem, not a brake issue or something else.
I would live with it for awhile. A lot of FBs, especially the 84/85 models, came with the automatic fix it option. Chances are good the noise will just go away after awhile.
And if it really is a wheel bearing, the only damage being done is to your ear drums, so if your hearing is still good you could just ignore it.
On the other hand, if it's the brakes, you really need to diagnose and fix it.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Ray

Hopefully wheel bearing swap won't be as difficult in the FC, I might be going through that depending on how pulling the rear hubs goes. Arp extended studs for safety here I come!
