The previous owner of my FC swore they retrofitted it, but the A/C lines did not have the R-134 fittings on them, all the fittings on the A/C system where the seals would've been replaced look like they were never touched, and the dryer and whatever else all look stock. I got a can of the R-134 stuff, put the fittings on the A/C lines, and it took the whole can and was pretty cold all last summer...

 

Some of the R134a retrofit kits use an oil that is compatible for that reason.

just got back from the volume test. 1/8 gal. if that. Don't have time to do any more testing right now, but next thing to test would be before and after the inline fuel filter, right?

 

Thought I'd look local before buying online. I'm looking for a 82-83 12a rear rotor.
The front rotor is a C weight. So anything close to that would work.

Yep. I would repeat the test at the pump outlet or filter inlet. That way you know if the problem is before or after the pump. My friend who had the problem only got maybe 10oz when he did the test. Just enough fuel was getting through the system for idle and nothing more. Some other things we noticed with his:

- although the pressure was okay at idle, the pressure would slowly built to the correct pressure instead of jumping up the the correct pressure like it should

- due to the blockage, the pump was making much more noise than it should

Another friend also had this problem, but was not as severe (it was about like yours). It would drive okay, but start to cut out at higher rpm/load. He had already dropped and cleaned the tank, but it turned out there was also a partial blockage in the hardline.

 

Got my tires mounted today. Too bad it's too hot now to actually put them on the car.

 

now that you mention it, the fuel pump is a bit noisy. and that would make sense...the pump is working harder to get past whatever blockage there is.

 

Or it's just cavitating and not doing any work. Ever wonder why the pitch of a plugged vacuum goes up rather than down? You'd think it gets "bogged down" when it's blocked, but instead it just stops performing any work, stalls the pump, and just spins away.

By the way, if history is a good predictor, it'll take Tim forever to ask for his A/F gauge back. It's kinda cool to see how far you can go down the road on a cold start before it goes into closed-loop mode. If you keep yourself in some good vacuum going down the road, you can even watch it sweep as you go. It's like being Michael Knight for a day. Keep it plugged in and play with it while you can, and just hide it when you know he'll be around.

 

Must be atmospheric, I'm getting some fuel delivery issues too, the Silver One hesitated a couple times today on the trip into Atlanta.

Time for a new fuel filter.

Just got done testing the fuel volume before the filter...so, dying fuel pump?



and if anyone is so inclined, the oh so riveting video. you can hear the FP groaning away. camera (iphone) is propped up against the driver side wheel.

 

That doesn't look like enough gas, delivery in a GSL is way more than that. Also it looks like it's pumping a lot of air, you can see the air bursts peppering the surface of the gas.

Certainly looks like the pump is worth replacing.

 

Damn, that's right at the outlet of the pump too, huh? I'd check the inlet just to see if you have a cone filter in there that's jammed up. It's inserted into the steel inlet to the pump. There's still a chance that the screen inside the tank is the problem. The easy check there is to drop the pump, leave it plugged in, and pump fuel from one jug to the next. If that test is just as shitty as what you just posted , then you know it's the pump.

The Bosch pump is what I use, though it's a little loud. I've also used the Airtex pump before, and it's quieter.
