Old guys with 12As club meeting
Well I just registered for Zoom Fest... go me. I got back from FL last night at 3, too. Somewhere on I-16 I nailed a recapped tire off of a truck and half of the paint on the pass side of my bumper got rubbed off, and it cracked a bottom mount, damnit.
Quick question for all of you college going people- have you gotten a student loan, who did you get it with, and how did the process go? I'll probably need one for the 2nd semester this year until I can reapply for hope after those 30 credit hours, and thinking of it all bums me out.

I hear you Brett, Courtesy of Seymour's Wreckers in Commerce:

These red neck truck driver's that overload their rigs and run retreads, then sit on the side of the road and watch people crash into their trash, are not on my favorites list.

You'd think people would be more responsible.
I can identify with the tuition stuff too, in 1972 I got a 50% scholarship to attend Clark University, a prestigious school in Worcester Mass. Problem was I couldn't come up with the other half ($750) so I had to go to UMass, where tuition was $150/semester.
Seems like it's always just out of reach, but actually going to school is a good idea during a recession.

So I am flipping thru my new issue of Grassroots Motorsports and what do I see?? A RE-SPEED ad featuring Zoom-Fest!! WOOHOO!! Good job spreading the event to the national audience Billy. Hopefully this year is way bigger and it just keeps growing....I swear I said that when I was younger to an old Girlfriend..

So you were the one guy that saw the ad

Time to register for zoom-fest, OGTA!
I remember you telling me about that. Hopefully I can make an attempt to fix mine so it's as good as your job.
I would die if tuition was still that cheap
Fun fact: My mom was born when you were starting college- You really are old, huh?
In all seriousness though, I talked to some people today about paying for college, and it's not as overwhelming as I was thinking. So here we go...

I registered for Zoom Fest this morning. Which of the other quintenarians are registered? Unfortunatly, I am only going to be able to make Saturday.
Old is a relative term you young farts, and where I come from we generally don't reproduce until we're in our twenties. Age, properly maintained, has its advantages - you are wiser, more experienced, less stressed, richer and work shorter hours. Besides, we're all getting older every day, even you Brett. Not even the illusion of perennial youth, as practiced by Farah and Michael, changes this fact of life.
Of course there is one exception, the 12A powered first generation RX-7. They just keep getting younger and younger

Time to register for ZoomFest, I guess, now that I've out procrastinated Mike.

Dammit, yeah, I meant Sallie Mae. And you DO have to pay them back, starting once you graduate. If you keep putting it off or go to a Masters, then yeah it gets deferred with no payments or interest until you finally graduate.
Yup, I didn't start paying back my student loan for undergrad school ($2,200 for the BS in '77) until I completed the PhD in '86. Then I had to start making the $50/month payments.
Brett you could save even more money if you got yourself a 12A.
Interesting, but not as pretty:

I put in for the time off for zoom fest, but Im not going to register until its approved. Cable sucks, they want you to work 6 days a week, with a day off at their descretion, and some days I make $200 for 7-8 hours and sometimes its $50 for 10 hours!!! then theres the chargebacks..........
I've got about $250 saved up in my Respeed steering kit fund.. should I........ A) do the PDX and try and keep saving after that?) or B) skip the PDX and keep onward with the goal? (It's worth mentioning that if I don't have enough by the time summer is over, there is a great chance I won't get the rack this year due t my money being severely cut by school when it starts mid august. If I really pinch pennies I might have $900 by the end of this summer. So should I keep going onward towards my goal or splurge in the PDX? If I do PDX I might also have to pay $40 for new rear wheel bearings which I'll probably get before ZF regardless. My rear wheel is making weird scrubbing noises. I really wanted to do the PDX, but I might have to miss out on it........
