And I think we are done working on the FD. Still can't figure out what's holding the rack in, and I think the turbo control solenoid just broke. And unfortunately, my mazdacomp membership is for the 1st gen.

Mike, you mean one of these?

I think I have some out in the shed. You need the green ones with one black end or the green ones with the black in the middle?

By the way, those aren't check valves. They are restriction valves designed to put a delay in some kind of vacuum recovery. Check out posts #20-22 in this thread for details and the valve checking procedure:

And if for some reason neither of them come through, I'm pretty sure I have some. Called check valves btw

I need 2 of the green barrel ones. Anyone willing to part with 2 can split a pitcher of beer with me for the trouble.

I am trying to diagnose a little stumble issue I have coming off of idle and I noticed in the FSM that these little guys are called "delay valves" and are intend to delay vacuum for about a 1 second. I am not sure this will address my problem, but it seems the Mazda engineers wanted to delay air being sucked in below the carb for some reason.

I could use several of those Coors Lights in the picutre also. 8^).

Tim, I know the FD is totally different in it's own right from the FC...but...keep looking. If you can't figure out what's holding the rack in, it's probably something similar to the 'DAMNED BOLT!" on the pass. back side of S4 N/A 13b intake mani.'s...holds the whole UIM/TB assembly to the car...and what purpose does it serve? It just holds two hard vacuum lines to the back of the UIM...as if they're gonna go somewhere.. Riiight...

But seriously, you know something is holding it on...it's probably some retarded piece of ****. You're much smarter than the FD, Tim...TELL YOURSELF THAT!

I don't think it's a bolt. I think it's 43 vacuum lines. Trying to find a turbo control solenoid at the moment though. At least it is one of the cheaper solenoids to break.

Not check valves? Weird. Learn something every day.

Even so...you're smarter than the car..believe me.

If I'm smarter than Sabine, you're smarter than your FD.

I know that I'm an RX-7 partisan, but I have to agree with Tim on this one. I'm siding with Sabine and the FD.

Mike I'll bring some of those little green delay valves to the December 2 OG@TA meeting.

I thought those green things were check valves too Tim, but after sucking on about 10 of them and getting the same no suck, slow suck response on every one without finding one with a no suck, free flow response you'd expect from a check valve, I decided to read the rat's nest chapter in the FSM. I'm not smart enough to understand that chapter, but it does give a testing procedure, so I know mine are good for whatever it is that they do.

There are both types of valves used on the rats nest. Some are delay valves and others are just check valves.

I'm really frustrated at this point. It may go to mazcare next week, although I'm not too thrilled with them at this point.

I have heard mixed reviews of Mazcare as well. Hmm.

Their work has always been good, just their ability to come close to their cost estimates is lacking. Last time we were off by over a factor of 2. He quoted me to do a FPD before, but today couldn't come up with a price. That's why I hadn't given up a long time ago and just went there.

Random question, anyone got a good chili recipe?

Cathy makes good chili, I'll check with her.

I'd love to have an FD Tim, except at times like these. I can't afford Mazcare even when the stay ON budget.

Incidentally Tim, did you really buy this car or are you just putting us on?

I don't want to afford mazcare, but it's just been too long.

Do I need to go take a picture of my garage Ray? Prefer not too because it does need to be cleaned.

Eh, got bored. Cell phone pic though. I'm gonna find my camera batteries and pull it out this weekend (stupid rain).

Loti really arent that expensive. Especially for a used one.

But I call shotgun if we ever go on another mountain run. You think RX-7s are fun in the mountains, wait till you drive or ride in a Lotus

Unfortunately, not an Exige. That was what I wanted actually. I wanted a black, 2006 non-supercharged Exige (SC was a 2007 standard addition). I didn't want the supercharger because I didn't want the complications of forced induction (see FD) and because in 2007 the roof scoop was located in a bad place where it didn't see airflow (it feeds air to the intercooler) and heat soak happened fairly quickly. 2008s just cost too much. And let's be honest, they aren't slow in NA form.

So I was crusing the for sale section on the lotus forum (routinely) and saw a thread that was titled "2006 Phantom Black ....." and I stopped reading there. For some reason thought it was an Exige. Well, when I actually looked at it, it was too good to pass up. 8k miles, a few years left on warranty, sport pack (so similiar suspension to exige). At that point I couldn't justify $10k basically for a rear wing. And it was local.

Took 4 weeks to get though because his bank lost the title. Ugh.

Now I just need some black wheels for it .

And no, they aren't that expensive. Especially used. I could have spent more money on an Accord. And I get better gas mileage probably (v6 one anyway). Granted, creature comforts aren't the same...

Can I drive it?

I'll run another printing of the OG@TA cards Stu. What'd think, should we do pink card stock this time?

You are bringing that buggy to the next meet, right Tim?

I'll be the first to say that I DON'T want to drive it. I experience the "10-lb of **** in a 5-lb car" thing every day....

So Tim, what do you lack to finish the FPD? Did you get the solenoid rack loose like you wanted, but broke one solenoid while you were at it? Will a new solenoid have you back on track?

I'll be happy to wrench on it with you - just tell me if you need any tools or perhaps some fancy wrenches and I'll see if I can help.
