I can't believe you did that Billy. Next thing you'll be owning Andy's SA.

Man, you are driving up tuition at the Old School. Leave some for us!

I think Donnie got married, could be the end of him.

Tim I hear you, we need to make a pilgrimage into stock car country one of these days.

I hear N.C. is voting for Obama, is that true? And last night on the local news they said a new poll shows Obama ahead in Georgia. Next thing you know we'll be getting emissions tests here in Jefferson. What is this world coming to??

I'm headed out to spiff up the White One for the OSJC/OGTA meet. I'll take some pictures so stay tuned!

It was a beautiful day for the November (ie late October) joint OSJC/OGTA meeting at Lake Lanier.

Kent and Mikkie (hope that's spelled right, that's how Stu said to do it) win the prize for the longest trip, an all time record for an OGTA meeting, down from Virginia.

Quite a variety of Old School Japanese showed up, but the rotaries stole the show, as usual.

Here's some photos:

And here's why Kent and Mikkie stayed at the Rotary Inn (Holly's) instead of the Jefferson Inn (my house):

It's official: The Varsity downtown, 12 noon, Sunday 11/23/08. We wanted it in the day because nights are getting too cold and windy plus this way we can still eat.Mostly RX-7 but let's at least keep it rotary. Bring any parts you can put in the car for a mini swap meet.

I work nights so I can't make it out to the Suwanee meets but come on out and see some new people!

Yeahhhh....so today was swap day for my brother's Escort. A few days ago I took him to Pull-A-Part and assisted in removing the gearbox from another Escort. Today we set out to swap it out. This was very successful...mostly.

You see, it all went very well. Chad handled getting the CVs out while I unbolted most of the gearbox. The old one came out and the new one went back in just fine...but then, of course, as these things happen....Chad dropped the ball. Apparently (and he knew this) there is no transmission filler. In order to fill the transmission on these cars you must remove your Vehicle Speed Sensor. Well once it was all in and we were buttoning things up he remembers that little snag...no problem...all we had to do was unclip it and yank it out.

Wrong.

Also something he realized is that some cars it comes out very easily...but on others it's like pulling teeth. This transmission happens to be a stubborn one and won't give it up. So what'd he do? Got mad and BROKE the VSS. So now the base metal structure of it is stuck in the gearbox.

Now he (And unfortunately me probably) is facing taking the whole thing out again and attempt to remove it forcefully...or fill the transmission on the ground upside down and reinstall it.

Pictures.

looked like a great meet. my brake problem turned out to be just brake dust, but there is obvious signs that it's braking more on the right rear and a slight cyl leak.
