Noticed an extra oil drip under the 7 yesterday. Its always a very small drip from the pan, thats normal but this was a bigger drip and nearer the front. Yep, the oil cooler or the lines are leaking. Its a small leak but I'll have to tear into it now and see whats up.

I hope Big Blue sells for the asking price, its a nice truck and well worth it.

Well, I appreciate it guys. I have been thinking about selling BLUE for a while. With everything that's been going on here lately, I figured it was time to let her go. Tim, if the oil cooler is leaking, I hope you can find a cheaper place to weld aluminum than I did. The place I took mine charged me $40 to fix the cracks in mine. I guess that's cheaper than replacing it.

I got one here that pops out of 5th on the freeway when you apply a lot of gas up a hill. Work dog teeth is what I am figuring. Have not torn it down to rebuild, but if you want, just swap yours for mine and I will tear your old one down and see whats up when I got some free time.

Let me know

saaam, i JUST got your message. sorry about that...

quick answers

- i have taken nikki's up past 20psi

- your getting boost creep from too small of a wastegate hole (you gotta go so large you need to add about a 40mm washer as a new door)

- timing for 15psi can be around 10 degrees to be safe. 6 - 8 could cause egt's to skyrocket. put some 110 octane in there and bump it up to 15degree at that level and see how she feel's

Well I mean... You don't have 5th gear. With this transmission you will have 5th. Put this one in, rebuild your old one, and put it back in.

If you do a tranny swap from under the car it will be MAX 2-3 hours.

Thanks Zack. I really didn't want to pull that turbo back off. So the timing at 13 psi needs to be at least 10-12 leading? I'm still running a 10* split between the leading and trailing. I just starting having a choppy idle was the reason I was asking about the Nikki. I am having alot more fuel push by the throttle shafts at the higher boost. I just don't know what more that I need to do to the Nikki. Give me a call.......

You know rebuilding manual trannys is pretty easy to do. The parts are usually pretty cheap. You only end up replacing synchros, bearings, and seals as long as you haven't chopped up the gears. All pretty cheap.

If you have the time its not hard. When I was in college I rebuilt my (ahem) Pinto top loader Ford 4 speed with no problems. That said I've never done a Mazda tranny but I can't believe they're that much different.

Tore apart 1/2 a 12a I had here. Got the housing off, which is what I am mainly looking for. Cleaned the oil and grime out of it, didn't look half bad! No chatter or chipping or anything! Then I turned it over and looked at the inside-top of the housing, and a good 1/4 inch of chrome plating was gone Everything else checked out good minus (for some reason) 2 of the coolant passageways were too eroded

I got the other housing to check and see if it is good, and if Ray does not need the other engine, then I got 2 more.

3 engines here, got 3 housings, none good

Latest in Weight savings:

Every time I would hit a bump the passenger side would flip down. I hated it, so off it went. Not a huge deal as I never used them. Miata's actually have seperate plastic pieces to replace the stock one so you do not have a hole. Maybe one day when I get bored enough I will fab some up.

Hey everyone,.. well since i have not been working due to my back surgery and complications afterwards. I need to sell some things I have built up over the years. Mostly FD stuff but the biggest thing i have that one of you all may be intrested in is a BIG turbo.(kinda big, not Zack big but big still)

It is a turbonetics T70 Big Shaft turbo. Compressor housing is a .50 A/R, The turbine housing is a on center style with a .96 A/R i think... This is not in front of me yet. Should be today(getting brought over from the other house it was at) It has about 5k miles on it on my car. It ran great, no oil leaks or smoking. I just decided to change turbos. This WAS going to be going on the yellow FC. I was going to do a turbo 6 port.

Figured I would give you guys first crack at it before I post a FS thread with everything listed. Asking 700 shipped. But for a local and crew member I would come down a bit to make it a home locally!

Let me know guys. I will post pics of it in its current state of clean so you can see how it came off the car. Then i will clean it good and show all fins, wheels etc...

Thanks all,
Dave

does anyone know of a place i can get my car inspected even though it does not have a catalytic converter? or if anyone has a catalytic converter that would fit an 83 that i could buy or borrow that would be great to.

Umm...I would suggest finding some sort of little Mom and Pop shop, usually they arent really strict on that considering your car is an 83 it just has to have the safety inspection. But whatever you do dont go to any kind of franchise place looking to get it passed.
