I had hoped that Jeremy (one of the riders that went with us) would have his video done by now. He put his camera on his tank mount the last session. I watched a little bit of it before we left. He got some lkiller footage of the back of my bike

SWEET!!! I'll be by tomorrow to grab it. What time is god for you. I was just dreaming of driving the FB yesterday. Guess I have to put fenders back on now huh.. Elizabeth wanted to see what it looks like with the WB fenders on it. So I have removed the front and am mounting them up. Time to put back the stock stuff.

Thanks Sam. Can't wait. Maybe If all goes well i will be able to bring it to the meet. Have to get the car registered and stuff still.

ran into shawn(foxtrot) from rotorsports racing tonight. awesome guy, learned quite a bit from him tonight just listening to him talk to other kids about our rotary engines. but if any of you guys are interested theres a gathering on tuesday nights starts at 830 in the harris teeter parking lot at the corner of perth road and hwy150.
decent crowd and decent cars unlike the ice cream shop.

Look who picked up a 12A for a project. The guy I got from claims it was rebuilt with an Atkins kit and that it starts cold but then won't run hot. I turned it over by hand and it sounds like its maybe got a bad apex on both rotors because it gives out one real good woosh on each rotor and I think a second weaker woosh and nothing for the third. Anyway its a start. I'll know more when I break it open, but that won't be for awhile.

Oh yeah and when we threw it in my truck it was sitting on its flywheel for the ride home. When I cranked the first time it wouldn't hardly budge but then a lot of rusty coolant came out. It would spin easier after that. I did pump some 10W30 into the sparkplug holes and spun it around a few times. Hopefully that will keep it for a bit.

Thanks to Kent for pointing it out.

Hey Tim. If you have an engine that starts cold but has problems starting when hot usually means LOW compression. If he put a master kit in it, all the hard seals have to be clearanced. If you don't know what your doing, it's better not mess A master kit is like $1700 if I remember correctly.

Take about $900 of that and you have the correct amount

Thanks Sam for the carb work, Header, and the HB drive. Good fun. Is there a gasket between the carb and the base plate? and the plate to the manifold? Were they in the kit if they are supposed to be there?

Nice grab Tim. Should be a good engine for you to rebuild.Barring any major crapola.

The gasket so to speak is the heat shield looking thing. It goes between the carb and manifold. There arn't any literal gaskets that you need.

Good deal, Tim. I knew that one of you guys could use it. Hope there are a lot of good parts in there.

The spacer I gave you has the gaskets on it. They can be removed from the spacer, but I have never removed them. The spacer is all you need. Let me know if you need any help tuning that think in

When are we going to make our run up to the Blue Ridge Parkway guys? I know somewhere up there that would make a great stop, Stations Inn. Anybody ever heard of it?

I think its low compression as well just based on spinning it by hand. I had it sitting on the flywheel bringing it home and the first time I spun it a bunch of red water came out. I think it eaither blew a seal or sat in the rain. I don't think having the engine up ended like that should cause coolant to get in the rear housing.

He didn't really say what the kit was just that it was an Atkins kit. I'll pull it apart in week or so and see what I have. I'm hoping it has good irons, one good housing, rotors, and e shaft. I'm not to sure what the seals will be like or whether I can reuse them. I expect I'll have to pick up another or by a few peices here and there.

I guess I ought to go study rebuilding a 12a before I crack it open. I don't have to know what I'm doing with you just a phone call away This will be fun. I've rebuilt other engines, trannys, and assorted carbs. I can't wait to start in on this.

Unfortunately this will be a back burner project for awhile. Funding and all.
