well RETed i hate to break it to you but in some situations like auto-x having your tires over inflated can help.
and what ever happened to if you cant say something nice dont say anything at all. cant we all just get along??

To reduce sidewall flex on street tires yes, but that's what R-compound tires are for. Good quality, low profile tires help too.

Not a huge fan of stretched out tires. I am running 315/35/17's on my 12" wide rims, thinking about going up to a 335/35/17.

Good tires are resistant to sidewall flex too, the stock sized (50 profile) AVS ES-100s on the Porsche are really solid feeling, and have no trouble with sidewall flex. The set I just got for my 7 are 205-50-15s *I can't run those in autocross, but that's why I have the stock 13s just for that purpose*, and you can feel that the sidewalls are MUCH thicker than the older Yokohamas that I had before, or the stupid Pirellis that were on the Porsche originally.

For the 13" Autocross set for the 7, I want to try some Sumitomo HTR 200s in the appropriate size, and see how they are. They have a nice and low profile 175-40-13 that I'd like to try, but that all depends on what I can run for the given class.

Evryone has their own style. It can be for looks or whatever the hell they want.
Jeeezuz...Ive never seen so many people talking **** about something so insignificant as tire stretch.
Me personally i like it. I love that crazy offsets, tire stretch and demon camber.
Im an old school Toyota guy and eventhough ive never owned an RX7 (YET) im an all around Japanese automotive enthusiast.
Stretched tires might not be the best for the street but ive ran them stretched on all my Toyotas with NO PROBLEMS.
Many many pro D1 drivers in japan AND Europe run stretched tires and aero and vinyl that u conservative bastards might not agree with. TFB.
Ive personally drifted stretched tires and for a reason.
Muscle car guys run big *** Mickey Thompsons on the rear and that not my style but I cant say **** bc thats what they wanna do. Wether its for maximum traction at the track or just for the **** of it. They do it.
U keep saying "stretch isnt safe"Yes maybe an extreme stretch 1 day can cause an accident or some **** but then so can driving a 600hp or 1000hp car on the street.
Riding a motorcycle is probably one the most unsafe things u can do...BUT there is no way in hell ull get me off my R6.
