Yo Robert, Can you post any pics of draw through kits and a list of what I will need to do and what I need as for as materials goes. Can you tell me what needs to be done? I am new to the draw through setup.

first i reccomend for you to eat lots of cheese.....YAH!!!

next what is the budget your working with? that will determine what type of mods would work best for you.....

the draw through setups work ok, i just dont like the fact that you cant intercool them, and the driveability isnt usally very good since the carburator is so far from the engine.. also the turbo needs to be modified for draw through since your running gas// and air through it...

Angry Turbo Tuning Problems

Hello Robert, I was unable to compete in yesterdays event because my car is having problems when in full throttle, I am currently running at 22 P.S.I., mainly at 6500-7000rpm range in second and third gear, the car starts to stumble and looses power and it stays at that r.p.m. (that is when the problem starts, if it starts at 7000rpm it stays there stumbling giving a back and forth feeling inside the car) I really hope you get the picture, I have already tried changing the spark plugs, distributor, wires, rotor, distributor cap, changing the MSD BOX, raising the float level in the carburetor, changing the fuel pressure regulator, changing the emulsion tubes to F7, main fuel jets to 3mm, needle and seats(3mm), but the problem is still there, I am guessing it could be a fuel starvation problem(maybe the float bowl is getting dried) but I am not sure, please help me with this problem giving me some advice, you could charge me a fee for your service and I could send you the money to your bank account, I am very desperate because I have more than a week dealing with this problem and I don't know what else to do, I have been told by some fellow racers here in my country that this 48mm Weber carburetors suffer from fuel starvation because they are to small to handle lots of power but I don't know,

thanks,

Juan

your suffering from fuel starvation ... your weak link in your fuel system if your fuel pump... anything above 19 psi, there is a chance your fuel pump wont pump enough volume of fuel wich is hapening in your case... wich fuel pump// pumps are you running? at 22 psi you should be using 2 bosch 044 pumps with 2 seprate fuel pickups running the pumps in a parallel type system.. afrer the pumps then "Y" the two lines together to a 1/2" line or bigger to the fuel pressure regulator.. that should fix your problem..

A close guess maybe. The price determines whether or not I go turbo or not.

Robert I sort of did what you told me to, I installed two pumps(MSD 125P.S.I. AND A HOLLEY BLUE PUMP 14P.S.I.), use two separate pick ups with 1/4 inside diameter each one all the way to a Y with an outlet to the fuel pressure regulator of 3/8, after the FPR also use 3/8 inside diameter fuel lines to the carburetor inlet which is also 3/8 I.D. , the reason I did not use the Y of 1/2 inch or more like you told me is because I already had this other Holley pump installed on the car for use with my Nitrous kit so I just disable the NOS and tried this setup, I dont know if the pumps are not up to the task(what is the capacity of the BOSCH pumps that you recommend?) or is the problem still there because of the inside diameter of my fuel lines? I must say that I experienced a very noticeable POWER INCREASE but the stumbling is still there at high RPMS. please tell me what do you think....

thanks

In the pictures of the fuel tank that you sent to my email, are the fuel lines installed at the bottom of the tank or at the upper part? why

the holley pump at any boost level above 15 psi is doing absolutly nothing, except maybe hurting you.. you need another efi pump... if the pump will only push 14 psi, then how would it pump any fuel at 20+ psi? you just wasted your time..

the pics of the gas tank are of the bottom, where i made a custom sump for the fuel pickups .. -10 a/n is the size comming out of the tank..

this is a common problem on ida carbs when a return spring that was too stiff was used..
the the throttle shaft it slightly twisted.. the "blades" or throttle plates are fine... to fix this yourself, simply twist the shaft in the opposite direction until it starts idling smooth.. a carb synch would help alot if you have access to one.. get the air flow 50-50 and your good.. save your money for something else

Ive seen suggestions now please give me the best known facts. How do I prevent or alleviate wheel hop so I don't annihalate my rear? What prevents it springs or struts or both? Do I really need coil overs? What is the best combination, what ever components required?

I have a 93 R1.

Thanks in advance.
