Could you use an RE or auto FD rear plate and turn the starter around like the auto cars run? Would be a 13B only solution, but...

understand totally where your coming from, had the same bag of fun for my car last year, even had to make new gearbox cross members to suit each angle bellhousing , and yes literally every thing from each era has to be used, but i was told buy a few different guys that you can get a turbo spec ring gear fitted to your older (smaller) flywheel , saving you changing at least your clutch and flywheel
I dunno i thought they were on crack,but it may be worth asking around if it can be done

I dont' know. I wan't to run both engines so that is not an option right now but thanks for the idea.


Oh and beefcake, I see what your saying now. I have to still use the TII bellhousing and adaptor plate, but then I could use the smaller flywheel and clutch. I'm sure it could easily be welded on but I don't want to risk things coming apart and balance issues.

Don't do it. Ditch that b series and build a k-series or s2000 motor.
They will make more power and at least spin in the right direction.

Jay you could use the turbo II bell housing with your small 12A flywheel. obviously the turbo II starter wont catch the 12A flywheel. What most of us do is simple. we modify the turbo II bell housing and move the turbo II starter inward to catch the 12A flywheel teeth. I'm sure rene could help you with modifing the turbo II bell housing.

Thanks everyone for the help and ideas. I just got off the phone with Liberty and they are sending me a TII adaptor plate at no cost. Problem solved.

your shifting did get a bit better at the end, but you still suck. so with the clutchless gearbox I see a 3 second improvement from your previous 11.9... to some it up. 11.9 on a turbo II gearbox and 8.9 on the liberty clutchless gearbox.......

That just shows you how really fast this 12a is.

No, I know I had alot of room for improvement but I knew I was going to sell this trans. soon so I kept it easy. I never even tried to power shift once and never even grinded a gear. LOL. Don't have to worry about it now. Just have to remember not to put my left foot down and my right foot off.

I concur; the b series head flow/design is very inferior to that of the K and F series engines. To give you an idea, you can port a B series head all the way to the coolant/oil galleries and put a wild cam in it and it STILL won't flow as much air as an F or K series will in stock form.

I knew I'd get this Believe me, you would be hard pressed to find a bigger rotor head than I... But it doesn't change the fact that I build and tune them all on the daily. And love what I do, regardless of if it's piston or rotor! But in the end, I only put ONE of them under my 7's hood

anyone got ideas on the cost of a t2 bellhousing adapter for these units , is it the bit on the liberty website that says 400 bucks mazda adapter ?
