It'll be crappy if you drive it as a daily driver but perfect for track use only. |
is that one of those ls series boxes mr ultimate
|
PURTY!
Congrats |
:drool1:

There's no daily driving with that...
Good Luck with that. Your going to love it.. Its the best clutchless transmission in the world. Hands down.. Once you shift that tranny you will no longer want to shift anything else... Good thing it's also the easiest and least robbing tranny of all so when put your 13b in front if it will still turn it.. |
i knew i should celebrate christmas and not jewmus

wow jay you are not playing around that is very nice looks heavy for a all motor car

DAMMIT BOY!!!! Send lateass santa over here !!!!
Whats your PB to date ?? |
Thanks everyone. I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about shifting this bad boy. I did my homework on this and I hope I got the gear ratio's right, but we'll see. I basically just told them to give me the same ratio's as La Cecil.:lol::lol:- kidding. Sorry I can't disclose the ratio's... you know how it is.
I chose this transmission because it's the lightest.... even lighter than jerico and it's basically maintenance free. It's also like Enzo stated the least amount of powertrain loss and the strongest. It is the most expensive but I think it will pay for itself in the long run. I wanted a transmission that I can go to the track and not worry about and from what I gathered this was it. This will now be my family airloom and will be handed down to my son and so fourth and a rotary engine will always be in front of it. I was originally going to wait until I finish building my 13b, but I decided to put 20mm spacers in front of my 12a to get the same dimensions as a 13b and put the liberty in with the 12a to get dialed in and get the shifting jitters out and see what numbers I will do with the 12a and then throw the 13b in. So stay tunned, I should be up and running by the end of January. I got alot of cutting to do. This trans is 13" wide! |
Thought a few might be interested in the weight and size differences between the stock TII trans and the Liberty. So I did the work for you.
Stock TII trans. without bellhousing = 83lbs Liberty trans without bellhousing= 93lbs Adaptor plate= 9lbs Total weight difference = 19lbs The overall length between the two is pretty close. The liberty with the adaptor may be about 1-3" longer. However the Liberty is alot wider! The stock TII trans is about 7-8" wide and the liberty is 13" wide. The G-force transmissions are about another 15-20lbs heavier than the Liberty The jerico trans is 94lbs from what they told me. Here are some reference pics. http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/q...tyvsTII004.jpg http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/q...tyvsTII002.jpg http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/q...tyvsTII003.jpg |
No more granny shifting for you huh, looks good jay I can't wait to see your new 13b setup.

Btw you can thank me for the nice notching on the trans and adapter plate.
Starter would not fit without it. :) |

Starter would not fit without it. :) I am using the RX4 bellhousing and I sent Liberty my bellhousing and they made the adaptor plate for this bellhousing. Now I didn't send them my starter. I am using an old school rx3/rx4 starter that has the solenoid on the top. The solenoid is what is hitting on the top of the adaptor plate and side of the trans case. I don't know what to do now because I have to use a N/A starter because I am using a N/A flywheel. I think they may have thought that I was using a TII type starter that is smaller and has the solenoid on the bottom as they know nothing about rotaries over there. I know that the 86 N/A type starter are smaller but from what I have been looking at pictures today, they too have the solenoid on the top if I'm not mistaken. :( Does anyone have any ideas? I got a bad feeling that I am going to have to use a TII bellhousing, starter, flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder and scattershield. Please tell me otherwise..... |
Not sure on the RX3 stuff..
But my setup was all turbo 2. Bellhousing, Starter, slave cylinder, etc... It would probably be easier to just switch to that stuff anyhow... Let me know if you need any parts as i have all of them and won't be using it.. :) Only thing i'm thinking is to make sure the input shaft length is the same. I'm not sure if RX3 and turbo2 bellhousings are the same length wise.. |
