Well I sold my Terminator II carburetor today. In order to be competative in my class I'm going to need to run EFI with methanol and I woulnd't be able to do so with the carb because it just can't keep up the fuel demand. On top of that I really want to be able to log all of my runs and keep track of everything. I also am going to go through a chassis makeover. Believe it or not I'm still running the factory stock springs and struts- untouched. It's still going to be a stock chassis car though. Just going to make some improvements. Should be ready to go for the beginning of next year. It's winter building time.

so sad.... this thread is going down the toilet in a hurry...
this thread is a perfect example of no matter how much money you throw at something you wont get the results your after unless you have the experience needed to achieve those goals.
good luck!
p.s. padilla set the all motor record over 10 years ago with all stock suspension!!! not to mention he had full interior and all glass windows! stop making excuses for your failed attempt to go 9's!!

i guess if you have big dollars with a two rotor you only are going to make so much power you also limited with stock suspension so hopefully jay will run nines i wish i would of not started with a new project and stayed in the all motor class to run my carb on gas to see how fast i could of went i went 10.51 at 126 in fontana and 10.41 at 128 in bakersfield with dyno tune and more track time i know a carb can go alot faster than what i did. but i will never find out i started with a new project.

Early, I have been running carbs for over 4 years now. You have been running a carburetor for how long now(10-20+years) and your best time that you told me was a 10.5 but the best I have ever seen you run in the last 4 events was a 10.8. So you have been at it 3-4 times longer than I have with basically the same setup. Maybe you should be telling me to switch to EFI a long time ago.

well my 10.80s was spinning the tires i run my car on a tight budget i race for 10 years on a low budget as i got older i have learn there is more to life than racing i do think you could make more power but it will not be cheap but racing is not cheap i tested my car in bakersfield before i ran 10.50s i tested one week before at bakersfield and went 10.41 at sea level track you will always go a little slower at fontana. so good luck you will do it if you stick with it

QUOTE=ultimatejay;10868419]I don't know who you are or what's your problem but no one has gone 9 seconds in an all motor stock chassis car with a carburetor with our weight and class. The fastest Padilla went with a carburetor 2 rotor was low to mid 10's. He made the 9.8 pass with EFI and methanol. So before you open your trapper and talk smack the first thing you gotta do is get your facts straight. The second thing you gotta do before talking any smack is post up your fastest times. What the hell have you done hot shot? And thirdly who is making any excuses? I think it is very possible to make a 9 second pass with a carburetor but there are so many other advantages with EFI such as dataloggging and safety measures to name a few and that is the main reason for the switch. This thread did not say," In the quest to go nines with a carburetor." did it? This is my quest and I'm still on my quest.

well Mr know it all, you can buy a datalogger and use it on a carburated car too, its not mandatory to have efi to be able to datalog ...lol!!!! you make it obvious in your reply's that you still have alot to learn!
oh, and by the way before you start trash talkin Eric, he went faster than you ever did with a carb and all his parts are used hand-me-downs. he didn't spend thousands of dollars on his rotating assembly like you, he doesn't run super expensive ceramic apex seals , doesn't have the most expensive tranny like you, i could go on and on but you get it.....
your right, the thread title isn't quest to go 9's carburated however it would be better suited if you should change the thread title to read " quest to waste as much money as i possibly can and not go nines . that would be alot more accurate at this point, watcha think?

You must be Erics son. I get it now. No need to explain.
I had old used housings/ rotors/bearings/eshaft/carbon seals in my 12abp and went 6.99 in the 8th, so I wouldn't call that most expensive. I only made three runs with the new carb in the 1/4 mile and ran a 10.7. Not too bad. I'm sure I could have gone alot faster but I'm off to bigger and better things. I leave the Carbs to you and Eric.
I have joked around with Eric, but have never talked down to Eric and he has made some good runs with the Carby but what I'm trying to say is many really good rotary guys have tried running the carby and have not hit the 9's so it aint easy son.

pushing s##t up hill
what the **** is wrong with some people, who gives a flying **** on how someone spends their money , it doesnt make your dick any bigger if you did it on half a budget or full budget......
just **** up and let the man do a skid in his rota everyone ...... why the **** jays thread keeps getting hacked is beyond me , at least he is one of the very few guys who puts HIS money where HIS mouth is and gets it to the track,
Like jay said its HIS quest to get a 9 sec time and HE can do it how eva he wishes . And HE is doing mostly all buy himself , thats the biggest achievement any racer can lay claim to, anyone with a big budget can just drop cash in the pocket of a experienced tuner/builder and get their PB in a week, but jay is rolling up his sleeves and doing it himself , so when he achieves his time all should congratulate him massively ........ Who gives a **** how much he spent ........ he did it his way (sounds like Sinatra did it my way song hahaha) ....
peace bitches ... beefy
