Why do you assume that besides oem or ceramic seals the rest are run of the mill.

Do know the time, money and resources it takes to build Apex Seals?

The worlds fastest all motor 13B car is la cecil starlet out of Puerto rico @ 9.30 and 2nd is El Wao datsun @ 9.53.
Do you know what seals they are running?

I guess I need to explain what I meant by "run of the mill".... What I meant was every other affordable seal on the market. Whether it be Goopy, ALS, Super seals, etc. No one is saying anything bad about the "run of the mill" seals, I just simply asked why Ianitti's over a $400 seal.

I don't believe anything I hear about a Rotary motor until I see it for myself.. Many mechanics will get "free" parts then turn around and SELL those Free parts in order to buy parts from the leading brands..

I assumed you asked about Leco's motor because he's running your seals. God bless him if he is

Update- I put the motor together yesterday and everything went together smoothly. I can't believe how much more compression these two piece ceramics have just by cranking over by hand compared to the 12abp that I built with the carbons. Need to modify the oil pickup tube so that I can fit the rear sump 13b pan on and then it's ready to meet it's new home in the duece. Then it's off to Rene's shop to get the exhaust and intake manifold done and then it's time to fire it up. Getting closer. I expect it should be running within the next two to three weeks as I have been really busy at work and home.

Well, I got the rest of the parts needed to complete the engine assy. Heading off to Rene's tomorrow to get the pickup tube welded and a new rear oil adaptor plate made. I should have the new engine stabbed in the car by tomorrow or Sunday. Getting closer....

Yep, I eliminated the oil coming through the front cover. The oil is coming out of the side of the front iron and then will go directly to the front and rear stationary gears. If you look closely you can see in the first pic a piece of tape covering the holes in the front iron. The bottom one is the oil out from the pump and the upper one is obviously the feed to the front stationary gear. Alot of people will just use the stock method and run a oil line to the front stationary gear.

Finally, after more parts delays, I got some work done. Just need to plumb the oil system and cooling system and she's ready to fire. Waiting on fittings now. Should have it running by next week for sure. Here's a little teaser pic.

Hood Clearance

Hey, Jay car's looking good. Nice set up.

Looking at your motor in the picture, I notice that the velocity stack looks really high.

I was wondering if you have enough room/clearance for the stack and hood meeting up? I think you should have a scoop/cut out for the stack to be beneficial.?. Just like the HONDA all motor with the snorkel on their hood.

But all in all the motor is looking good. Good luck.

C'mon what kind of fabricators do you think Rene and I are?
Yes, we measured the hood clearance before we made the intake and I have plenty but thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try and not cut my carbon fiber hood up because I will eventually go fuel injection and don't wan't a big hole in the hood. I came up with an idea for ram air and am going to experiment with that. Keep in mind, ram air is alot diferent for a Carburetor vs a fuel injection setup. Carbs don't like alot of turbulence over the air/fuel jets as this can effect the air/fuel delivery. Most guys that just throw a big hood scoop over the carb and call it a day are actually hurting their performance.

So how is your car coming? Any plans on taking it out to the track soon?

Well, if the mighty $$$ prevails. I might be able to go racing soon. But I don't think so for now.
Parts are damn expensive now a days. Need rebuilt kit, new seals and all that. I am hoping I will make it.
If not I'll watch support the rotary guy's that will be able to race.

I hear you, that's why I stick with N/A engines. More reliable less money, although my empty bank account doesn't match up with this statement.
Hope to see you and your car at the track soon.
