electric water pump on the street

every now and again I want to drive my car on the street to meets and shows. It's legal and with the muffler it's not that loud, but I have a smaller radiator and electric water pump. anyone ever have any problems driving on the street with a similar set up?

May be ok for short distances but long stop and go trips are probably going to fail. I would just take the car for a little trip somewhere and see how it goes. Just keep an eye on the temps.

Dont hit the loud pedal to much. Electric water pumps dont generate any block pressure as do the standard water pump. Most inportant if you ask it to make heat.

It's a Meziere inline pump. I believe it flows at 20 GPM and I am using -16 hose and AN fittings on the Rxparts adapter. The radiator is the small aluminum half radiator you would find in a civic or most drag cars. It has a 12" electric fan and it get normal air flow to it. It's not blocked by a fuel cell or a closed off bumper.

You might want to consider what I did, go with some Evans NPG+ coolant. It has a much higher boiling temp and thus can be run at zero pressure in the cooling system, puts less strain on the E-pump and doesn't reduce flow as pressure goes up.

Although, I do like the NPG coolant products. I am going to be running pure water with water wetter. Mainly because I have seen to many accidents and track problems because someone leaked some coolant on the track.

Wow, great post. All tracks are going to be cracking down on spills and catch pans now too. You would not believe how long it takes to get coolant off the tracks. At the last event at MIR there were so many spills they were not able to finish the event.

I have a friend that has an electric water pump made in Australia, davies craig I think, he drives all over and never has any issues, it was his daily driver for many years.

the davies craig pumps also have a digital pump and elec fan controller, it will keep your pump and fan running as if its a factory setup day in an out .
