Thanks!

I wanted to see what kind of ET it would click off with just pump gas and not leaving hard.

The 1.52 60' was free-reving, the car leaves hard (mid 1.30's) with anti-lag.

Let me ask you guys your opinion. My car is a a full weight 2900lb, full interior, pwr locks, windows, carpet, full sound deadening stuff, etc.. I go cruise to car meets. Drive down I-95. Only thing I did, was put the G-force in. This isn't some sequential tranny or clutchless deal. You downshift, upshift, clutch it, and its an H pattern, just like stock. So you tell me, street car? Every race i went to at MIR, I was in the street class *because my tranny is an H pattern clutch assisted tranny. I don't mind either way. Just seems crazy to lump me in with 2000lb full meth race cars. My fuel pump isn't some external buzzing crazy thing. Its internal drop in style. No difference between Tommy's car and mine except he has an extra rotor..lol..

Ernie, I hear what you're saying, but we do have to have some way of seperating the cars or we're gonna have stock 12a first gens on the same list as abel's RX-8...

I'm gonna repost my statement from page 1................................................. ................

the idea of seperating calsses was to kind of seperate 'street cars' from race cars.
the irs/solid categories are not the best way to do this. its not as cut and dry as ppl think.

a first gen with a solid ford 8.8 mounted at the factory pick up points that has stock tranny and is streetable should be a street car. that same first gen with a solid ford rear and a full aftermarket 4 link suspension is a race car weather it is driven on the street or not.

what i'm suggesting is this..

cars that have tranny and rear end modifications (of the same stlye as stock irs/solid) in the pursuit of STRENGTH and RELIABILITY are street cars. examples:

modified trannys for STRENGTH ONLY (NOT clutchless conversions)
upgraded, or aftermarket rear ends that are of stock type with stock suspension pick-up locations (kazz, cobra 8.8, irs 9" in fc &fd ford 8.8 with factory pick up points in fb ect..)

race cars are cars with trannys or rear ends that are modified not only for strength, but in the pursuit of LOWERING ET, or improving 60' ect. examples:

first gen with aftermarket 4 link
any car with tubs (mini or otherwise)
solid axle in a fc, fd
any clutchless tranny
any tranny that can't reasonably be used on the street (5000rpm lock up converter on autos)
any tranny that can't be downshifted.

i think thats fiair because we all modify our cars and its stupid to say "street cars must be completly stock"(thats the direction this seemed to be headed)

theres lots of us that drag race with non mazda drivetrain parts to avoid breaking parts on street cars. the guys who do it for a FASTER ET AT THE EXPENSE OF STREETABILITY are driving race cars.
**************************

by the definitions above Ernie, which do you think your car fits into? does that G force allow you to have an ET advantage over someone with a stock FD tranny? or is it just a stronger alternative to a stock FD tranny that offers NO PERFORMANCE (ET) ADVANTAGE over the stock part it replaces?

or, lets just put all stock chassis cars on one list, and all backhalved/tube chassis cars on another.

what do you guys think?

All the above sounds fine but I also think we need a archive for past older cars and the list "Drag list" needs to be fresh from each season. So Jan. 1st it starts agiain. ?? Whatcha think???

How about

1 Stock appearing-factory style trans case, factory diff (except IRS), no altering suspension, no tubs.
2 Modified-aftermarket diff, aftermarket trans (no clutchless), no suspension mods (4 link ladder ect) no full tubs.
3 Super Modified-Backhalved 3/4 7/8 chassis, suspension mods, no clutchless trans, no full chassis cars
4 Unlimited- full chassis, clutchless trans, anything goes.

What do you guys think. The whole "street" thing is pointless to argue. Hell i could drive my car on the street but that doesn't make it a street car. Lets categorize by mod level and not by someones idea of what is and is not street. Does this sound fair to everyone?

Yea I don't wanna get into a pissin match. Roan, If we go by your post, then yes my car totally fits in the street car class. I can downshift my tranny. I can go over 5000rpm. I drive it on the street. My sole reason for gettting it was its strength. (ie..output shaft) My IRS is not some 8.8. Its the same as it came from the factory. You tell me.

Roan, thanks for the long explanation, I agree with you too. I don't think there is a way to make everyone happy. I also agree with what Allen is saying.

Right now the debate is not if Ernie should be in the top 20 with a GFORCE because the top 20 says:

"STOCK CHASSIS / STOCK TRANSMISSION / ORIGINAL TYPE REAR"
(this came from the old NHRA Street class rules where a Gforce was not allowed, they did allow a cobra rear conversion)

The question is do I need to redo the list and change the current categories.

Anthony

I think we should keep most of the catergories as is, I espcially like
"STOCK CHASSIS / STOCK TRANSMISSION / ORIGINAL TYPE REAR" section, as I really want to see who is the fastest on this forum with those components, and it levels the playing the field, as a large budget does not necessarly mean you are the fastest in this section.
You need skill and some luck to be fast on a stock Tranny, adds to the spice lol

If Ernie is not allowed on that list then why is ARI on it ? I thought 9.6 was his best on a stock tranny anyway.. AND second that shouldnt even count as a "stock tranny" since he opened his and performed his little tricks to it. which to me means its not stock anymore. Also Turbotommy shouldnt be on it either since PPG is not stock.. Either keep Ernie on there or take tommy and Ari off or its not fair to Ernie. Stock should be "stock" not stock case with internal modifications. Only my thoughts here.. its easier to define something as stock as coming from the factory otherwise the 'little tricks" could give an unfair advantage like quicker gear changes or closer gear ratios things an aftermarket tranny would provide.

Ant,

Before the other posts were deleted, Ari came on and posted and made it clear he was on a stock tranny. Someone also searched back the NHRA sport RWD class where they check for a GFORCE and his time was listed.

As for Tommy, I moved him but Allen had a good point when he said to go by NHRA Sport RWD rules since that was the last "legal" street class.

I'll update everything now.

When the list started with the fastest 20 there were a bunch of 11 sec cars. As you can see now, if you don't have a 9sec car or a very low 10 sec car you will get bumped by next year.

Even if we made it top 30 I doubt 11 sec cars would be there anymore. Did Speed_NYC ask you to post this

I got a few PMs to do fastest times on stock twins.
