My build is coming along , I am just waiting on a package from Pineapple , then I can have the motor built . The machine work is completed , it was done by D. Rampersad .. . I had a problem with them though ! Although the actual machine work was done properly , some DUMB F@#K dropped something on the plate and put two pretty large gouges in one of the surfaces , They affered to re-do it and gave me a partial ferund , I had an extra center iron at home so I didn't make a big deal out of it .
As for the track , my car will be a street / strip machine so I will enjoy it on a daily baisis and the racing would happen in Grenada , Guyana or where ever I may be invited to race.
I have some pics of the motor and the port work , I'll put them up soon.

With a name like Zig and an email with Baboolal i would think that your're somehow related to Tanko... Herd they got some land to build a track and its supposed to be pnm funded, so i guess we'll have to wait till '08 to see if this becomes a reality... Marcel all this power for the streets? you guys are nuts

Ps. if this track becomes a reality then i'll consider building a project car home...I just hate it when mechanics home put a sr20 or RB in a Rx because they dont have the knowlege and know how to deal with rotarys

I'm trying to determine if the 2-pc e-shaft can be fitted to the Renesis engine. Althought the Renesis/13B OE shafts are interchangeable, I'm not sure if the Renesis center plate will handle the machining/lubrication requirements due to the differences between the two engine types.

Maybe it's uncharted territory? Never hurts to ask ....

TIA,

Team

What about a one piece shaft with a two piece babbit bearing? It can be done.

That is how Curtis Wright and Mercedes did their multi rotor engines in the '60s.

Okay now I am curious.

How did they get the center rotor(s) over the end eccentrics with a one piece shaft? The only way I can figure it would be if they used different diameter rotor bearings for the center rotor(s) versus the end ones.

I'll repeat it encase ya missed it, "one piece rotor, two peace bearing.". I'm picturing a two piece bearing like what you'd find in a piston crank journal.

Exactly. The fact the machined journal would be soft does pose an issue. I suppose the e-shaft could be ion nitrided after machining.

Most piston engine crank journals are to big. I'm looking into connecting rod bearings but their downside is the lack of oil retention groove and most are to thin to add one to.

Another issue is alignment. I've CMM'd the plates and the accuracy of the dowel holes is so-so. Some have a lot of clearance too. I believe some secondary doweling/aligning would be a must.

I'm also wondering if the e-shaft could be drilled to supply lubrication insted of having to add the extra oil feed line.

Parsing error. I assumed "multi rotor" meant "more than two rotor".

Thus my questions about how they got the center ROTORS installed on a one piece shaft...

On the 2 through 4 rotors they did it the same with the 2 piece bearings.

Only difference on the 3 and 4 rotor engines was the bearing carrier was also a 2 piece stationary gear.

The main bearing journals were as long as the rotor bearing journals for rotors 3 and 4 so you just slide the rotor on, move to next eccentricity, slide and repeat.

It took me a moment looking at the eccentric shafts to figure out why the main journal lengths varied- lol.

I don't see why it would be an issue with the Renesis. People have used Renesis e-shafts in 13B engines and the center housings are the same thickness.

They have them up on their website now.
http://greenbrothers.co.nz/Products.html

Wonder how well the Racing Beat intermediate housing would take to the required modifications?

Is there any specific reason why they use needle bearing instead of jounral bearings?
