Peripheral 13B Dyno test

Peripheral 13B Dyno test
· NEW ENGINE 13B PERIPHERAL PORT N/A:
-New turbo housing (1988)
-High compression rotors (1989)
-Racing Beat carbon seals, hardened stationary gears, high volume and pressure oil pump
-NASCAr style double pass Aluminium radiator, electric fan
-Stock oil cooler plus 2sd remote oil cooler
-Racing Beat Header with 3' pipe, Dynomax muffler
-2 55mm throttle bodies TWM Induction 3000 serie
-4 Rc 700cc injectors
-Stock coils and crank sensor
-Haltech E6K ECU
-Paxton fuel regular

After spending over 16 hours on the dyno, we got it !
Swat Performance of Lancaster, took on the task to map our Haltech for this peripheral.
We started with about 150Hp at the wheel.
Than with about 5 hours of play with the map we got 175Hp. Not Happy !!!
By talking to other persons, mainly Hitman in Australian, we discover that the right spark plug can increase horse power by 18 Hp.
After spending $230 in spark plugs, we ended up running some NGK with a temperature of 11.5. We were now at 231 at the wheel. "Can do more !"
Now it was time to redesign the intake and the header. Let's make them shorter !.
We went from a 19 inches Racing Beat header to a 8.5 inches custom made by Swat Performance, and also reduce the intake by about 4 inches. So, result: Worst !!!!
So we decide to try the old intake, but keep the short header...............261 HP At the Wheel !!!!!!
The exhaust still need more work, and I think we can get about 270 to 275 with a new exhaust and more time at the dyno shop.
I will keep you updated with the result.

P.S: Thanks, Swat Performance

More at: http://www.realride.com A good buddy of mine over here in the east coast. has a Racing Beat P-Port rotor housings, 9.0 rotors 4 650cc RC Engineering Injectors, Motec ECU, and a short megaphone type header made 275rwhp.. this was done over a 3 day test and tunning @ the Dyno. I just posted this so u could have an idea of how much hp is still available for u. 275 rwhp = 315flywheel hp give and take a little...

why does everyone say that? besides check the site - it's for a race car, my guess is turbos are banned or are heavily restricted...

Hey what is your intake manifold leangth to start with? plus 4 inches is a huge adjustment. But ya you should be able to get a little more HP out of that.

why would u want a turbo on a periphial port unless u were a NHRA dragster. And I much rather have a periphial than a normal 13b turbo... 12k rpms baby

I think you would be suprised at the driveability of a good port with fuel injection or even a good carb setup. With the fuel injection you can realy get some good low end response but even with the carb you can make them run pretty good. I would not try and commute with one in heavy or stop and go traffic but say 20 minutes to and from somewheere everyday on nice flowing roads and a couple straits to clear it out,,, sure. Any ways my thoughts.
