because im running a 500 horspower 13b engine and 24psi 0f boost and i keep breaking the rear side housing in my engine . if this help you understand a little better im useing a microtech for my fuel system and egnition. im runing 116 octane and my air fuel missed is 11.7 maybe with this info you can see why i would want to pinn my engine.

11.7 ? Tuning is lean. We run 600 plus rwhp and don't pin.

Running lean like that will crack backplates quickly. Mine lasted 500miles before it cracked

some tuners here localy and in australia say
that mid to high 11's (11.6-11.9) is fine for boost under 16Ibs
on race gas

I cracked a plate within 3 months after building and breaking in my engine (under 1K miles )

Lets just say

A) I will be pinning all my motors for now on
just to add strengh against "twisting" not just to band aid tunning

B)going for low 11's high 10's A/F's
this time around
My A/F was in the 11.8's
and I most admit
it ran fine on race gas
but as soon I mean as soon as I put in 93 octane... crack!

So you have to decide whether you want to be borderline and make maximum power

or loose a tad bit of power but be safer
Thats the key question one must ask themselves
