600bhp

Hey, I just took delivery of a 93 Type R this afternoon. I'm deputy editor of a UK car magazine called Revs and am wanting some opinions on which type of turbo to use to get to 600bhp (obviously with nitrous etc). It seems that the big GReddy is the fave, what say you?

Hey everyone, Revs is a ricer-mag!!!

So he'll want:

nitrous,
a huge intercooler
the biggest turbo he can get
to run rich throughout the rev-range
stickers of every brand he can think of plastered over his door, etc, etc

Oh, and a rev-counter bigger than the steering-wheel

Sorry man, But I REALLY don't like the boy-racer look!!!

the first thing you'll ned to do is get rid of that B18C5 and put in an older LS vetec engine then lower the compression to 9:1 you'll then need to shot peen, anneal and nitride the crank.. in fact .. why'd you bother to get an ITR.. that's the most NA specific engine on the planet.. even the S2K engine is more boost friendly then that thing.. dude, bad move on your part.

I know I'm new here, so I don't want to sound like a dick. But the guy isn't talking about an Integra Type R. The Type R Integra wasn't even made in 1993.
He is talking about a '93 RX-7 Type R. Don't think they were ever sent over to our shores. But he is in the UK which explains that.
Here's a pic of a '94. I think they were basically the same as a standard RX-7 except for suspension.

Yeah, no nitrous needed.... BIG TURBO BABY!

Big turbo (and everything that goes along with it such as IC, BOV, etc, etc), stand alone ems is pretty much a must as well.

I can't recommend exactly which turbo would be best, but something like a T78 or TV45 should rock enough.
Not sure what type of boost levels you will need to run, but probably at least 20psi and maybe as high as 28psi.

Check out the new issue of Modified Mag, there is an FD in there making 582 rwhp with a streetported engine, no nitrous.

You can always get a 1/2 bridgeport job done and get 600-650 rwhp @ 22-25 psi. That's a whole new story and a whole new ballpark though.

I checked up on the FD in Modified,

It's actually making 586 rwhp @ 19psi with a T78.
(streetported and no-nitrous) wow!

I agree....there was something odd about it when i was reading it. I'll have to go find the mag again to double check.
Not to mention 98% of those mags fudge the numbers in some way.
