Okay, I think the settling in the argument lies in what I'm about to say- I'm sure you could get WAY more poon in the FD than with a Firebird/Camaro. F-Bods are so common that they just don't have the allure an FD has. Granted, F-Bods are quick cars and have lots of potential, but they just do nothing for my taste. Also, in the near future I'll be doing an REW swap with a ****-ton of mods (actually thinking of going single turbo. 500hp sounds very nice.)into my FC (when I get it back from Lake Panasoffkee) and I'll be more than happy to come down for a friendly race against bastien, budd, and even that trolling douchebag iOWNaWRX (by the way, don't make me come down to Clearwater! I know alot about the area and I'll break into your house and **** in your best frying pan if you don't quit talking such useless crap. I'm sure you're some kid with a stock Eclipse GS that gets to drive Dad's WRX every once in a while.). I'm not sure if you guys (bastien and budd) do your stuff on the street or track, but for street we could go to Moss Bluff or Gandy Bridge, and for strip we could go to Bradenton. Whaddaya say? I think it'd be fun. And we should get video! Just in case, you know, I win . LOL, With the mods I'll be obtaining, it might just be possible you know? I'll round up a couple more people I know too (i.e. Jerry with his 800+whp Ford Pickup, his son with his 12sec HEMI Dart, and hopefully a guy from Ocala named... ah ****, whats his name... dammit... well anyway, he has a BADASS PP RX-2 and he built a T-88 FD that'll walk almost anything out there). I think this should happen. Would ya'll be willing to participate?

I have read the entire thread and I believe the original posters kill (the ss was probably stock). you win some you lose some.

But I will say that I still think the ls1 responds much better to mods than the rx7.

I disagree. Stock vs Stock the LS1 is a bit faster, we are talking straight line here. Add an intake and full exhaust to both and now the RX7 is a bit faster, such an improvement, in fact, that the RX7 now requires the computer to be upgraded. This vast improvement is typical of turbo powered cars. So to be fair also upgrade the LS1 computer... the RX7 is still faster. The LS1 will have to be the first to touch the heads or cam or add N2O or something to keep up. I do think that you can ultimately go a bit further with the LS1. All the extra CIs spread the increased load over more area. Lets face it a stock 13B is not going to stand up as well to 500hp as a LS1 block will.

Why did I but an FB, cause I could smoke some 4 bangers maybe some 6's and nobody would have a clue as to what I was driving. I have seen SOME 3rd gens pull on F-bodies, but not many. I used to own an IROC-Z with about 450 HP, I think its launch is actually comparable to my FB with about 230 HP but I'm giving up about 1500 lbs. I actually have no traction problems. My mom owns a 1977 T/A Hurst Edition, its got a 6.6 with 500 HP pretty fast car.
You MuscleCar guys need to watch out, (although I am one myself) One day you'll roll up on some normal looking car (a civic maybe?) and you'll get put to absolute shame. An Rx-7 is every bit a sports car a T/A or Camaro is. the difference being one is slightly faster and one is more rare. dont be so hateful and quick to laugh. I've seen an H22 Civic on pump gas with a turbo (I think 15 psi) totally built, on a dyno make 480 FWHP and layed down a 10 sec 1/4. that is DAMN impressive, it may be a civic, but you being a motor head know how much work that would take. Im not hating on you, just dont hate on us. just dont be so quick to call B.S.

I am not hating on RX7's. I actually think the RX7 are decent looking cars. But like you said, you've seen SOME 3rd gen pull on F-bodies. It seems like on this board every rx7 can beat a piece of **** dumbestic Camaro SS. I don't see dyno numbers or 1/4 times in their sig's. If a catback/intake suffice to put a RX7 in the 12's range, congrats.

its becuase the FD is more a track car, so track times arent a big spec for most. we do have a section for time slips

On stock fuel I think the fd is limited to low 12s with the right driver. Possibly 11s but I think that is a bit of a stretch.

Yep trans ams and camaros have not looked attractive since the first gens, take the back seat out, shorted the wheel base and make the car smaller in general, get rid of the big ugly windsheild(talking from a driving point of view, anyone who has driving one knows what i'm saying), take the rediculous air intakes off the wrs6 or whatever model that is make it look a little more classy and you would have a really sweet car that would prolly kill mustang sales but the 97-02 models are so ugly you can't even compare looks to a RX7, especially on this fourm.

The TA is fast and powerful, but would be faster if it shed a few pounds.

^A chick I know is getting a MINT (74,xxx original miles) '67 Mustang. Its just a regular I6 4speed car, but its a damn nice specimen. I'll try to get her to let me take pics one day, lol.

Oh, and bastien, chill man! My little race setup was for fun! Jeez. I'm not trying to call you out, its just a request for a little get together/race day for Floridians. Hell, it probably won't be for a while because my FC won't be quite up to par for at least 9 months, and even then it probably won't be the 500hp beast I want it to be (we'll see what I can get with the twins first, then I'll go single) so you never know, you could probably kick my *** if the car don't have what it takes. On the flipside, if I happen to HAVE said 500hp beast, why not run 'em? It'd be fun! Hell, I've ran MANY cars that I KNEW would totally RAPE me in my N/A FC (i.e. Modded 406hp WS6, Modded '69 Nova, E36 M3) but I didn't feel bad for losing. this whole thread is a waste of time. i can't believe these GM idiots have to defend every race that a gm loses. you gm guys obviously have no lives. these dudes probably don't even own one of these ugly gm cars. don't forget when you lose to an rx-7 you are losing to a 1.3 liter engine that is about the size of a milk crate and can make over 700hp with all mazda internal parts. and don't forget mazda is the most progressive car company on the planet. it is also laughable that you are comparing your 2000+ gm to a car that is basically stock from 1993. by the way the interior of you car looks like it was made in the late seventies early eighties it is truely repulsive. it is idiots like you that keep a pathetic company like gm in business. oh wait wasn't gm threatening bankruptcy just recently? if it wasn't for competition from great companies like mazda american cars would be even worse than they are now. by the way a totally stock 1993rx-7 i pulled a few car lengths on a 1999 ws6 in a pull from about 80mph. in about 2 second i was already a car length in front. i am not going to bs around these gm products are like a disfigured piece of turd on wheels.

^Eh, not tryin to be a dick, but that would make him 17/18, depending on the month .

Oh, and he does have a point as far as the "Money=Speed" thing goes. There are a couple of sayings floating around:

"Speed costs money. How fast do YOU wanna go?"

"Fast and reliable is not cheap.
Fast and cheap is not reliable.
Cheap and reliable is not fast."

Oh, and GM WAS threatening to go bankrupt, but they ARE bringing the Camaro back later in the year, so that'll probably save their bacon big time. Not to mention the fact that Ford isn't exactly doin all that great either. The only truly strong American company right now is Chrysler. Not sure why. Most of their cars make me wanna puke.
