Montego's FD should be WELL above 255 flywheel hp. It is not stock and the SS probably was. An FD with his mods should be able to pull on a stock LS1 Fbody.

Budd, since when do the numbers mean anything on the street? They are so close that it won't even matter unless both drivers are equal and are in a race with absolutely no other variables.

WTF does that have to do with anything? Two completely different cars and one completely different drivetrain!

To be fair, he is probably using numbers because I was, and I am only using numbers to show that this outcome IS possible. Maybe the SS driver was crappy, who knows.

It wouldn't take a huge difference between the drivers to change the outcome of the race. There are too many other variables to just say the driver sucked in most cases. I just don't understand why everyone is getting all worked up over something that's very possible. Every car can lose, whether you want to admit it or not.

erikseven your should post pics of your white second it is one of the nicest 2nd gens I have ever seen, maybe it would shut these guys with pontiac's up to see a really nice car. Come on nobody on this fourm will agree with you two bozos that a camaro/firebird looks better then any generation RX7, I'm amazed with you to post pics of you "hot rods" on here and think anybody will give a **** let alone get anycompliments. Go race some auto mustangs and give your egos a boost your cars are big, ugly, and fast in a straight line go jerk some mustang owners off and talk about how cool your domestics are and leave the seven site.

+1

WS6's are actually pretty slick cars, they can be faaast with a little work, and they actually have a decent suspension for a muscle car. It is too bad I prefer small, foreign, unreliable sports cars.

Like I said I have an FD with similar mods but without the street port, and I run 13psi instead of 10psi that should offset each other and I get 310whp.
The point is with an FD, LS1 rapeing power is really as simple as uncorking the exhaust and freeing up the intake. Even when the LS1 has those same mods.

if you turbo a WS6 ta, expect high 11 1/4 times with a low end turbo. Not to to talk of if you fine tune. If i hd a choice id still pick the rx7, its less common and looks nicer.

i was using stock vs stock numbers because the mods on the SS are unknown. you guys always take everything to the extreme when me or bastien says something just because we are ls1 owners, no where in here have i said it isnt possible for him not to beat the SS ( not to mention i admitted that there are prolly plenty of rx7s on the forum than can take me). All im questioning is how much of a "blowout" this race was, i dont see him beating a stock SS by 10 million car lengths even with his mods. As for the person stating his friends stock ss dynoed at 300hp GM isnt the best company with making every vechicle the same. 325 is an avg number they used because technically at the flywheel the ls1 should be producing 345-350hp. many things on the car really hold it back and arent up to par with the engine, such as exhaust.

Oh, BLKS5TII, what in the hell do you mean since when do the number matter? the numbers always matter. I didnt see you jump all over your fellow rx owner when he posted almost the exact same thing, but thanks again for proving my point that its not how much i know about these cars in your eyes im just wrong because i drive a ls1.

Lastly, who and what experience do these drivers have? i can put my mom in my ss and a honda civic would beat her. Driver skill makes a lot of difference. Many of you who have been to the track understand this, your car might be rated at a 13.7 sec 1/4mill stock but i bet you all the tea in china your first time at the track you wont run 13.7. give it a whirl you will be shocked.

I don't care what car anyone drives. I respect every car for it's ability/potential. I just can't help but notice you contradict yourself in the same post. Numbers matter but, just like you said, the driver along with plenty of other variables make the race. There are 11 sec. cars that can hardly pull 13's on the street, and if you read right I said since when do the numbers matter on the street.

This thread is hilarious.

bastien, budd and WRX--you guys need to chill. You've been owned sooo many times...

The ignorance is staggering.

BTW, here are several pics of the car I just sold. (someone asked) I think it looks ok.

Looks like a porsche 944.

As for the ignorant bit, the only ignorance I see here is how you perceive your cars capabilities.

Wait... Are you talking about me and my car personally?

Or are you trolling an Rx7 forum to enlighten us "ignorant" owners about how poorly Rx7's perform in general?

Either way, I think you're a bit out of line. Especially since you're saying this in a thread describing an FD's Camaro SS kill.

You idiot.

Wow this thread got a lil out of hand. You can make any car fast with the right amount of money. I pulled a few SS's in my FD with stock twins and boltons. Im not going to bash the american cars, i just dont like them. I think the interior is very bland and not exciting, and the exterior isnt attractive to me. But everyone likes something.

The more of his posts that you read the more he smells like a troll. I let it go as his stupidity this whole time, but now I see he's just looking for a fight.
