My most satisfying kill. FD VS Camaro SS

A few years back I got smoked by a late model camaro SS. Right off the line man. As faith would have it I was only runing 6 psi (didn't know it at the time). The dude instigated the race and afterwards mocked me a little bit by swerving in and out my lane. He was somewhat ahead of me when he did but still what a dick...

Fast forward to few weeks ago. I am cruising home late at night on a four lane straight road. And next to me pulls up a black lowered Camaro SS with tinted windows, just like the one that smoked me and I mean just like it. He basically cruised with me for about a mile right next to me. I got the incling that he was feeling me out. This whole time I'm thinking "bastard...lol". Whether his car was modded I don't know other than the tinted windows and being lowered. The car sounded loud, but don't they all?

We both cath a red light and there is no else on the road. Now I never instigate races, people seem to always instigate them with me. But not this time, I thought to myself "**** it". So I reved on him lol. He reved back and continued to rev repeatedly. Whoa we got a player here! Though he had tinted windows I could still tell that it there was only one guy in there. Light turns green, the dude got a perfect launch. I in the other hand bogged for a millisecond but that was enough to give him a half car lead. So now I'm at his door but that's all she wrote. My tires hooked and I pulled on him like a freight train. By the end of first he was at my rear bumper. On second gear I just kept increasing the distance between us. By the time I redlined second he had fallen back a total of about 2-3 cars (honestly I don't quite remember it was too quick.) Then he slammed on the brakes and made a quick left. I slowed back down with a big'o smile on my face

So it wasn't the same dude that smoked me but dammit that still made my night.
Mods in sig.

Awesome kill... Redemption, baby!

BTW, those cars are fast. I raced a (lowly, lol) Z28 Camaro in my (*old*) slightly mod'd S4 Turbo II and I was a bit disappointed that it was DEAD even all the way through 3rd (70mph) and most of 4th (110mph). Although, I don't think the other guy was too happy about the outcome either.

I had full exhaust, mild street-port running 11psi on the stock turbo. The Camaro was all black, wide-*** tires, exhaust and tint (from what I could see).

Nice kill. I wonder if those two guys from the Chevy forums are gonna come in here and stir some ****? Remember them? I think their SN's were "Bastein" and "Budd"? Meh, oh well.

LS1 Fbody's are fasst. my friend pulled a 12.7@111mph with only nitto nt555r's, slp clear lid, and loudmouth exhaust - no headers.

Only if you don't have a boost controller which he has. If you want to run more boost then you have to upgrade the ECU.

Thanks guys, yeah redemption feels great lol.

BoostedFd3s,

Stix37867 is correct about the keeping my boost down to 10. The stock ECU runs rich enough to support those mods at 10 psi. Note that I still have a stock cat-back not for long though.

LS1/f body is a nasty platform for straightline ****. Too bad they're a dime a dozen... better off getting a C5 for the exclusivity, if your wallet can handle it

I call bs once again.

You don't pull on an SS like a freight train...except if you are putting down some serious numbers.

I'm with him.

I doubt he was even racing. He probably just took off normally in 3rd gear.

Really? I blew one away by 5 or more car lengths with an S5 TII running only 9psi. F-Body drivers think they're hot **** when they have all their mods and an automatic transmission but put one in a manual car and they're deer in the headlights

what in the hell are you saying? have you ever been to a track or are you strickly a hardcore street racer? Most people (kids) who own ls1's or lt1's as their first cars are like yourself and seem to think m6s are so much more faster than a4s, so they start out with manuals not autos. They tend to switch from m6s to a4s once they realize for track purposes a4s lay down better numbers. So this theory you seem to have that a4 owners cant drive manuals is all shot to hell considering thats what they started out with. Are you just jealous that you finally realized you cant shift faster than that auto next to you?

I mainly think that the general comments are, THIS IS A RX7 CLUB, not a Chevy club. If either of you guys think that your "all that" just remember there is always someone just a little bit bigger and badder than you!!!!HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I don't street race. And I can shift faster than that automatic that's 5 cars behind me. The automatic is the lazy man's way of trying to get good numbers. I've always had better runs in manuals than automatics. I finally figured out why GM put more autos in the F-Bodies than manuals because they realize that most people who buy F-Bodies are lazy

Ive never lost to an ss or z28. My FD is putting some serious power down though. There is always someone that will be faster, but its nice to beat a lot of people that think their car is the fastest thing in the world.

what does having 5 car lengths or any car lengths for that matter have anything to do with you shifting faster than a auto. Secondly, you are basically saying that every pro drag racer in any class that uses auto is lazy? You're in denial that for the purpose of drag that an auto is by far better than a manual, there are plenty of other applications where manual is better but we arent talking about nascar or rally are we? As for you having better runs in a m6 than an a4 unless you are speaking in terms of a bone stock a4 i highly doubt that but launching a a4 has some minor tricks in it believe it or not. Oh, how did you come to the conclusion that GM put more autos in F-bodies than manuals? I cant claim i know the exact number but i doubt that is a true fact considering autos are more costly and on most any sports cars its an upgrade to auto from its normal stock manual. Not to mention most teeenage kids who get their parents to buy them want an m6 not an auto because of this huge misconception that m6 is faster.

As for a poster above saying that us ls1 owners think we are all that is so far from the truth. You're right there is always some1 out there that is better, hell i can safely say that there are plenty of people on this forum with faster cars than mine but thats where you people differ from us. You judge us not by our car knowledge but by what car we own. Just because we own ls1s you automatically go into attack mode regardless if we are right or wrong. I dont post here often but i do when i see some bullshit posted. Its simple logic people i suggest using it sometime and not just posting, "man you sure showed that c6 vette beating him by 8 car lengths in your bone stock rx7!!!!!"
