My Evo isn't completely ready yet anyway, but I'll give you the gist of it. Built 2.4l 4g64, Apexi Rx6 turbo kit (hopefully a p27 hotside is in my near future), really big cams, motec ecu and lots of other goodies. I put down 403 whp on a Mustang dyno on pump gas at only 20lbs of boost and I found a crack in my exhaust manifold, so next week when I get it back from Apexi we go race gas and high boost. With my setup should see easily 600+whp at 35+ lbs of boost, but I may need the bigger hotside to get the boost up there. I feel pretty confident that I can get to the low 10s and maybe 9s with full interior and a/c anyway that's my goal.

PM'ed you

I don't think 27Xawhp, 27Xawtq(yes, that's at the wheels), and 12 second e.t.'s out of the box is anything to sneeze at. Not to mention they break over 300awhp with just an ecu flash. I just bought a IX, and I must say that you guys are underestimating the little box that could.

There are about as many Evo's in the 9's as there are RX7's so what's the point? You're debating over who has the most cash.

What I will point out is that the Evo continues to set new records on tracks such as Tsukuba that even the almighty Skyline hasn't been able to break. It's not a car that was meant to go straight, otherwise it would have been created with RWD and a V8. Kicking *** in a straight line is a bonus feature, much like the 7. I don't see many 10 second 7's being driven daily and through the snow however. I also don't see many rotaries lasting 50k miles with 600+whp. Both cars are great, but some of you rotards are being rediculous. `

i dont have to much problems with evo's even with my setup. I only dynoed 250 whp. Yes i know i need an ems.

The two evo's ive raced from a roll is where it was close. One of them wouldnt even race me from a stop and the other i destroyed off the line, i can hook though... but on that point, i dont know about not to many street cars being able to beat fds

I mean here is a list of some street cars in my area right now

9 sec supra
10.08 second 2003 silverado 1500
9 sec bel air
520+ whp galant vr4
11.9 sec 455whp (on a stock bottom end)stor behind this is: me and him ran a very close 60'er, 1/16th, and 1/8th mile, after that, he moved the awd was spinning all 4 wheels (same guy is putting something similar (actually more power) into a COLT!!!)
11.6 sec dsm
12 sec turbod sohc mustang gt
11 sec 500+ HP s13
500 hp supra
10 sec honda (built b sublime motorsports)
12 sec h22 honda
low 12 sec 300c

its bad when my slightly modified rx7 is in the middle of the pack right now.
btw omaha has an extremely good racing scene though

Evo

Yup Jesus Padila just won his 4th season. Most wins ever for his class since 2001. Runs 9.7 best I think with a non turbo 13b full interior including glass windows and stereo. I think I heard he has a stereo not sure. His closesf competitor is an RSX that looks completely gutted, and back halfed. Still lost last season.

Ari with his street car broke into the 8's with his Auto I believe. I don't see any EVO's winning lol. I could be wrong. Maybe someone can enlighten me? I believe 7's are also dominating the Moddified class. Any EVO's in that class?.

The Pro Import is tough competition right now with the 3.5 litr engines. Abel said in an interview that he should be making 1600rwp with his 20b soon. He's almost hitting mid 6's. An EVO will never hit that. Abel with his 13b made 7.3 pass and don't think an EVO will ever hit that either.

The 13b simply out classes the EVO in most forms of racing that your arguments pertain to like straight line, autocross, raodcourses, endurance maybe?

The EVO is a good car. It's not revolutionary or ahead of it's time but simply a good everyday car and great bang for the buck but just think the 7 out classes it. It's lighter, more nimble, more powerful, less DC (.29) and everything else that comes with that platform.

You know it's really hard for me to believe that a guy with a very well modded car would get sensitive over a kill that involved a decently modded car vs a stock car.

I mean WTF? it was the other guy that wanted to play in the first place.

ok ok ok. You guys win. I didn't realize that those 3 rotors were making so much power and that the weight (or lack there of) makes such a big difference in our respective cars' potential.

I would love to have another fc, but I really got frustrated before, 'cause I couldn't get any of the cool jdm parts that I saw in the drifting videos and online.

It's not some tracks, and it's not just the snow. Evos are actually, dare I say, more nimble than an RX7 thanks to a very advanced AWD and a nice stiff suspension from the factory. The oh so heavy Evo is only a hair behind the Elise in both lateral acceleration and the slalom. It doesn't even take any skill to go stupid fast around the track in an Evo. Driving that thing is so incredibly easy; It's like the car knows what you want it to do and does it for you. Don't you people realize that RX7's AREN'T the sports car paradigm? Neither is the Evo, but some of you keep riding on your high horse.

You guys are jumping behind your whole weight argument again, but didn't you realize that the Evo RS only weighs 300lbs more than an FD? We're not talking about even a 500lb difference, and that's with 4 doors, a comfortable backseat, a large trunk, and AWD! Mod both cars equally and the Evo will still come out nearly tied in a straight line(the only direction that's fair for the 7 in this comparison), but I might be giving too little credit to the Evo since the IX has proven to take incredibly well to mods. Can anyone here run 10's with the stock turbo(s)?

Drag coefficient doesn't seem to be too much of a problem either since that brick still tops out a little past 160mph when stock. Take off the big wing and you could probably squeeze out a few more mph.

This isn't the whole 7 v. F-body argument. You don't have a leg to stand on here other than to call it ugly or to hide behind other people's accomplishments. Don't talk trash on a car just because someone finally has enough mods to beat one. Stock for stock, the 7 doesn't run 12's. I love my 7, but don't make yourself seem as ignorant as the guy I quoted.

I don't believe that speaking the truth is considered "riding a high horse"... The FD is still considered one of the better handling and nimblest production sports-cars. The EVO has obviously jumped into the top-tier as well, there is no arguement here.

Congratulations? The FD is still lighter with better weight distribution. What you consider the "whole weight arguement" is again, just us telling the truth...

Wait, are you saying that the '7 is so far behind the EVO regarding handling characteristics, that it's comparison to the EVO is simply unfair?

I don't think anyone is maliciously attacking the EVO with the same passion with which you defend it... But yeah, I think EVO's are overrated. Then again, I've only driven an EVO VIII with light mods.

I know the FD is greatness, but what got me all fired up was bmwrx7man and his ignorant statements. I've been defending the 7 for much longer than the Evo.

When I said the handling wasn't fair it was because it's AWD. You can look at most track records and most of the production cars at the top of the lists will be AWD cars, unless you're talking about a high speed track. Better weight distribution makes a difference, but it's not like the Evo is 70/30.

Was that vid actually with the stock twins? I was pretty sure those are tossed early on in the mod process. Impressive if that guy was able to do it, but it's still more of a common practice among the Evo guys.

I was never really impressed by the VIII's either('03-'04 anyways), and that's probably why I never wanted one. You should really try driving a IX though. It's not just the name that changed.

Again, you are trying to argue something you clearly know nothing about. The other Evo's never came to the U.S. All past models are extremely rare and expensive in the countries that had the fortune of getting them. Several of those past models outperform the newer U.S. versions, meaning that back when they were out they were quite easily stomping RX7's stock for stock. Ever hear of an Evo 6 TME and its titanium turbine? How about the Evo 5 that only had 5000 units worldwide? How about the 300ish horsepower Evo 7?

Can someone clarify how big the difference between the JDM and USDM FD's is?

From what I see, there's only a 25hp difference.

Evos are no joke... I have tons of respect for those cars.

I'm following in your path, BlkS5TII... gonna get me an AWD sportscar along with my TII one of these days.

... of course, I should get the TII running first. :P

I honestly love my 7 to death. I just needed something I could drive without ever worrying about the weather or the car itself.
