Ever since i was a kid i have loved the FD's then a few months ago they had that North American commercial for the MItsubishi Eclipse.. the one were the FD bow's down to it... anyways i was wondering if the twin Turbo FD (stock) would kill the top end stock eclipse. not sure what there top end model is and/or has in it.

 

That commercial featured the 263 hp MIVEC V6 Eclipse which would, in fact, get annihilated by an FD in every aspect of performance driving- including straight-line racing.

 

Yup....that is 110% correct. That Mitsubishi is an absolute junker compared to an FD (it's FWD for God's sake!)

Yes, a stock FD would destroy the 4th gen eclipse. It is a superior car in every way as mentioned above....

Now is the new 4G a junker? No, it is actually much better than its previous model (which I owned) and is getting a decent amount of respect by keeping up with, and in some cases outrunning the Nissan 350Z. (if you don't believe me look around for some of the videos). Though the car is VERY heavy and handles like a boat... It has been responding decently to small modifications but I have yet to see one that is turboed or supercharged.

haha nice the eclipse tried to catch but just couldnt handle it. thnx for vid's keep my conifidence up, nonly 1week till i get my RX and i cant wait.

 

Watched "Pipes" today and they had a new Eclipse on there vs. and 97 Mustang Cobra. Couldn't have been running a full 1/4 mile cuz both were STOCK and the Mustang ran an 11.7 and the Eclipse ran a 13.38 on their baseline runs.....

My FD walks on 2G Eclipses with 20g turbo and 20psi... I don't think you'll have a problem with a 4g Eclipse. Especially if it got beat by a 4.6L Mustang which mine WALKS as well...

 

I beat a 2006 Manual I4 (170hp) in my 86' GXL.

I've got a lot of mileage on the engine, she's tired.

And I still won.

An FD will eat the GT V6 version alive in every aspect.

 

I hate that commercial...
