corners

Eh, in my opinion, RX-7's aren't made for straight line racers. Take him in an autocross track. Anything with a couple of turns and you will spank him.

Supra's can make crazy HP with a couple of really good mods.

Still love the RX cuz it hugs the corners.

Interesting read. Sounds like fun.

Don’t ever underestimate a Supra in handling. It is not as bad as people think. I have many videos of Supras taking out RX7’s in the apex. But here is a Supra taking out a EVO8 and RX7, in the rain mind you.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...19&q=supra+rx7

But yes, the RX7 can handle better with less suspension modifications, just like the Supra can be faster with less engine modifications.

Idle control solenoid is going bad (confirmed by Steve when he came over to my place), and he fixed the settings on the PFC (which were wrong) to make it as good as it gets w/o replacing the ICS (didn't feel like doing that when the car was gonna be going to the shop in mere weeks anyway). Regardless, if you wanna nitpick, sure, the idle had a prob. How that would make me slow, or my car unreliable...that's well beyond my knowledge

By the time your car gets back I'll most likely have a Supra for you to race
By the time my car's back, I'll take both you AND Dave Not at the track tho... from a roll

Rich...chill man. I don't like to overhype things lol.

Rx7TyreBurna, unless your FD is very powerful, you'll STILL lose on the track to a Supra, unless the track is 100% flat. Ever seen that video of the Supra, R34, S15, and the RE FD? The FD had the lowest power out of all of them, and while it was taking the turns much faster, the other cars pretty much SPANKED it on the straightaways and the uphill sections... And yea, in general, I'd never underestimate a Supra.

Dunno you were listing things that were wrong and omitted the idle so I added that.

I'm sure I speak for Mr. Boost when I say whatever / whenever / wherever. I kinda figured you wouldn't want to run at the track, shocker ;p

My point was simply that other than regular 12 year old part maintenance, my FD has been quite reliable in the 3 + year span I've owned it. No reason for me not to race it.

Well there's diff strokes for diff folks. I don't get a huge kick out of dragging. It's so shortlived, and measures pretty much only one aspect of an otherwise multifacited vehicle. That's not to mention that IMHO, the FD is FAR from the car of choice to drag race w/. If I wanted to drag, I'd get a Stang, drop $3K - $5K TOPS, and be running high 10s all day long. Not my cup of tea.

It also doesn't sit well w/ me how you're gonna destroy pretty much every driveline component while going for faster times, and the risk in it (losing control, hitting the wall etc), is huge. I bought the FD for handling and all around performance, which is why I freakin LOVE roadcourses - you actually get a chance to experience what the car can do.

I just had my first loss.
I had a c5 zo6 (with exhaust) pulling out on me on the freeway today. 70mph to 120mph. When we shut down at 120mph, he had little bit less than 1/2 car length on me. Well, I down shifted to 4th, and not to the 3rd, so my rpm was at 4000rpm when I started, but I'm pretty sure he would have beaten me regardless.

now I know how you felt. I guess I'm not as fast as I thought.

my power mods: 13psi on stock seq twins, m2 stage 3 ecu, greddy smic, efini y-pipe, bonez hf cat, bonez dp, trust twin intake, rsr single tip catback, stock motor.
