OMG! screw all that ****... i am gonna go back to my big wheels (remember those when u were a kid, 3 wheels and the front one was the bigger one with the pedals on it) i am thinking i can get that to spool a turbo quick and then rocket off! i think i am gonna have to full up on Munchies tho... LOL (sorry just trying to add some humor). All in all, both engines are good in their own way, for their own person. A import person goes supra, a domestic goes f-body. Its all opinon, each car can do what the other can with money. Anything can be done with money... remember that old Vid of that Turbo K car? (the plymouth reliant as its offical name)...

What some of these die-hard import fans forget is the fact that drag racing and building motors was around long before the jap-mobiles hit US shores. They act as if Supras and RX-7's are the ******* tantamount of drag racing and motors, completely forgetting the fact that big blocks were putting out 500+ horsepower long before their rice burners even hit the drawing board. "Redneck mobiles" or not, LS1's are impressive and really on the same basic technology that has been around long before turbocharged rotaries. I wouldn't exactly call them pieces of ****.

i'm an import fan. but i don't try to deny the facts when respect is due.

it's like that old saying:
"there's no replacement for displacement."

that Trans Am is fast. no doubt about it.

and btw...isn't this video like 4 years old or something?

Hey it's all good. It's the net. We are friends here. Just out of curiousity. Of all the people that have posted on this thread, how many of you own a car right now that can run 11 sec and trap 120+mph in the 1/4?

No, but I have a bike that does. Am I supposed to be impressed that you own a Supra or something? I don't even think you went to college, why should I be impressed?

I'm gonna second the "I own a bike that will". And it was less than 8k.

Falling back on the "I have more money than you" defense isn't gonna change the fact that with the money you have in your beloved Supra, one could easily build a faster ls1 anything. Which is the area of this argument where you are completly ******* owned (like the ls1 ownes the 2jz).

Presently, no. Does it mean I can't afford one or build one? No. I could very well have a car in the 11's by next week if I wanted, which I don't. I do not need obscene amounts of horsepower to enjoy my car or have the need to brag about it on a car forum.

So typical.

"theres no replacement for displacement"

I Like the way he phrased that... Take an Ls1, 2-jz, and a 26B and say money is not an issue... The 26B is just plain crazy stock and now turbo it... i know the 26B wasnt in teh conversion but i figured to put it in anyway the ls1 is the bang for the buck... thats for a person with a low budget to have a fast car and now a Supra is a supra... dont matter what you say or ill just have to post the video of a supra walking/shittin on a 600-700 hp mustang the mustang had no chance at all i mean money wise its gonna be around atleast 50-60k to get a very high horsepower realiable supra... anyway im not hating or anything i like the ls1 and was thinking bout putting it in my 7 but i like rotary and i love the supra

U Just proved a point "u get wat u pay for"... so when supras came out what was the base price 38k? and how much do they go for now 35-40 with low mileage? the car isnt in production anymore which is a big mistake and it keeps its value... either way the supra looks nicer, and overall a better car... ill take a supra over a fbody anyday no questions asked... and for the record the ls1 didnt just walk on the supra the supra was still holdin with it... now take them to a strip and supra will give the ls1 a hell of a run for the fact of the driver (reaction time, shifting) and the ls1 will be spinning tires (street tires not slicks)

"You get what you pay for" is very true. The other thing is... what are you paying for?

A lot of what you get with a Supra is the ******* IMAGE of it. A damn SC300 goes for half the price of a supra and is even more luxurious and hardly heavier. Swap a forged v8 or forge the NA 2jz (or swap a turbo one) and bam, you have leftovers to spend on it before its even the price of a Supra!

BTW, if I had money lying around, Id do something like that. But well, if you wanna get the most for your money and you dont have a lot to do, v8 FCs are damned near impossible to beat, safe for my 2.3T project.

So far that's a no from alot of you. Don't try to "bait" me into a conversation about $=performance, or the "should I be impressed", or "you should have bought this" bullshit. I've owned both sided of the spectrum. Bikes are great I have owned a gsxr 750 and the old zk9, but really what bike doesn't run 11's. That's not **** anymore.

You or him put SFCs on it?
No, out of the question.
When he bought the car, he had this wild idea the car would end up as a collectors item in the near future.
We kinda all snicker at him about that when we see him.
