Pikes Peak any hopefuls?

Hi guys I was just wondering if anyone was thinking about running The Mountain now that they paved it. Ive always wanted to run it since I was a kid and now that its paved I think that now is my chance to give it a go. I was just wondering if anyone else would like to give it a shot.

Have you guys driven up the mtn? No way in hell would I race up that thing. Too chicken.

Word of advice....do everything you can to cool your rotary. It's very steep and the air is very thin.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Be prepared to spend some serious coin just to register. The vintage racing club I'm in ran the PPHC every year for the last 20+ years. They have eliminated some of the classes and raised the entry fee to something like $3000 this year. Apparently they are trying to discourage the number of amateur entries because the number of cars every year is getting too big. I believe you have to be able to run the course in under 15 minutes to make the cut. Even then, come race day, if there are crashes or bad weather that causes delays, you can get cut from running if you are in the slower classes. Once you pay your entryf ee there are no refunds, even if you get cut from running.

I just drove it for fun... really cool. You don't need to run it quickly to enjoy the drive.

I must say considering the price and now that the whole hill climb is paved pretty much ruins it. When I think Pikes Peak, I think Ari Vatanen and a trail of dust. It's still a challenge and a pretty cool hill climb, but it lost its character now that there isn't any dirt. Although with that being said, it might be a more competitive event for non-rally spec cars to have fun on the ascent.
