Well we're back at it, this time around we installed the oil coolers for the diff and tranny.
Here you see the coolers already installed, we made and aluminum frame that spaces the coolers about and inch and a quarter off the steel
another angle
underside showing the exit for the coolers
drivers side
ofcourse they are still missing the shrouds and fans that will be fed by NACA ducts installed in the bodywork.
next we're gonna be working on the front passenger side frame rail, this car was crashed and the previous owner had it pulled, but the place didn't do such a great job so we're gonna just replace it. We're also gonna cutout most of the sheetmetal around the shock tower (got the Idea from Vest Racing a fellow board member).
hope you enjoy

HAHA, don't worry we were working hard today! we're almost finished with the pass. side frame rail.
here's Rob going to town on the drivers side
here it is with all the tubes welded in, the only thing missing are the tabs for the shock which we made but didn't have time to weld them in.
another angle
should have the shock mounted sometime this week.

I don't think we actually lost any weight, the reasons we did this were 1. different shock mount and 2. create a stiffer mounting area for the shock. I believe we accomplished both.

OMFG, I have not been on these boards in a while,WOW this thing has grown into some straight GT-CAR $H!T, I love it. SOOOOO nice. What is the target overall weight for this car,it should be really low on average, this is the most cut up FD i know of in the states, what do you think about a tube between what you have in front end. Something to shore up the upper A-arm mount structure ponits & the general area. Also Im interested to know what will yhe final ride height be? I looked at it more maybe throw a diagnol in there, can you see what Im saying. BIG AL ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!! IM so EXCITED

Well believe it or not, I don't think we've actually lost any weight (maybe even gained some). the sheet metal we removed isn't actually that heavy. the bars you speak of are actually what we had in mind, we're gonna be making both bars out of chromolly (as is every other tube you see in the pics) with proper rod ends. we will be doing the diagonal bar aswell to triangulate and really stiffen things up. thanks for the kind words!
as far as ride height, we expect to be pretty low, that's why we made the bumper removable (so we can get the car on the trailer)
we'll be working on the drivers side this weekend.

Well here you have it the finished product, all the tubing has been added and welded and the car is on the ground.
I think we're working on the floor next.

Seriously? if you are then keep in mind this is a racecar, there is no stock dash/climate control. look back at the other pages of the thread and you'll see pictures of the airbox, although we're gonna be changing the airbox shortly (came up with some new ideas!)

SO what did your engine setback end up being from spindle centerline to front sparkplug ? scca allows 4.5 inches of setback BUT with a 20b streetport, otherwise you can run SPO and set back as much as you want. Not sure about nasa unlimited and fara seems prety open.
