My FD 2jz Project

Hahahaha, yeah, the car's soul has departed to a better life....hahahha, what an idiot. Can't you just learn to spell "the" correctly and why do you have to use upper and lower case letters when writting rotary? Do you think it make you look gangsta? LOL

I'm sending my car to Tech2 in a few weeks. Once it is done, I will do so, but is Stage7 wants to do it before, that would be cool.
I really dont care much, since it will be a drag car for the most part, but it would be nice to know

I received the 2nd hood and it was damaged AGAIN. I refused delivery but had them send it back the next day because Tech2 has sold out of their first run of hoods. I would have to have waited 6+++ weeks for the new batch to get a new hood. I'm going to fix the cracks from the shipping company and paint the hood. I've been rehearsing every day for a show this Sat so no time to play with the FD right now.
I will keep you all updated.
Re Supra sale: To me, this is coming out to be the perfect FD. I owned a Supra (awesome car), but I always lusted for the FD body and chassis. Now I have what I loved about the Supra w/out what I hated about the FD (rotary).

I sold my FD shell as well.
I'm sitting in Bath, Maine right now, where my ship is still being built..
So, with the FD just sitting at my brother's shop, with me paying monthly for the (too) small loan I took out for it, I figured I should just wait for now
So I sold the FD shell itself, but I still have the 2JZswap kit.
I still plan on doing the swap. But for now, I'm just going to save up some cash to purchase my next shell with, and then if anything, pull out a big enough loan to cover all of the actual parts and work necessary. $10k-ish is what I'm thinking should be enough for the motor, remainder tranny parts I need, etc etc..
Luckily, all my labor for the swap is being done for free (for now), by my brother at his shop in GA.
So yeah. Big time PAUSE on my 2JZ swap, but I still plan on doing it eventually, just not right now.
The anxious kid in me is still saying "If I find my ideal/perfect FD shell, I'm going for it." though..
hehe

I think there must be something that's inherent in your swap that you're not happy with. I just finished my swap and I know that unless it's some ridiculous amount, as in like double the amount of money I put it, I will not let it go.
That's just me though.

haha yes howi the swap hasnt been done for long. about 2 months and less than 200 miles.
i love the car and love everything about it. i have always sold my builds after they were done. some faster than others... i have always been more into the building of the car than the finished product. plus this was a offer that i couldnt turn down. i never even listed the car for sale. the person who bought the car came to me.
everything is for sale for the right price!

Thanks Andre. I'm following your 1st Gen build too. Tech2 built their own torque arm and does not use the PPF. I have one for sale if anyone needs it!! I'll be posting more pics soon. The car is untuned so no #s yet, I should have them next week. I've only driven it from the enclosed trailer to my house, so no driving impressions yet.
Why don't you stick to threads where you are inclined to make positive remarks.

Love the FDs with 2jz's...Just my opinion.
Hope to be able to do one of these in the near future.

Actually somewhat of an update. I finally placed the hood on the car (not bolted yet). It looks good. Very mean. Much better than I thought it would. I have to say I was a bit worried how it would look from all angles.
Very menacing. My shed is almost finished. I'm taking the week of labor day off (for many reasons besides my car), but hope to get 95% of the rough body work done that week (fitment, fix carbon fiber cracks, etc.) I'll have an accurate ETA after that week.

Super Snuggles
Of course, you could just put me on your ignore list and not have to read my remarks. Honest, it won't hurt my feelings.

I saw in the tech 2 hood thread many of you were asking for pics of other angles. I took pics from every angle in the shed. There were some clearance issues with the hood and my install. Only one from the turbo side though:
1) Air cleaner pipe needs to be massaged, or go w/smaller diameter filter-have to test and see.
2) EDFC barely hits- will notch out hood support. dremel is my friend
3) HKS EVC 6 solenoid hits-relocate
4) Power Steering resovoir just hits- will drop resovoir. There is space to relocate.
5) I will get some playdough and see exactly how much space I have around the tight areas. I'll notch, relocate where necessary. Then I'll put a turbo blanket on the hot side, and a kevlar heat blanket on the hood near the turbo. I just want to be on the safe side for heat management.
Besides this, the hood fits very well for an aftermarket piece. You have to remember that the whole front end is after market, so there is going to be a lot of massaging to get the lights, bumper, hood, and fenders to play nice. Also the bumper is just hanging on the front end for reference in the pics coming in the next post.
This build is going to take a lot of work to do it correctly and in my spare time. New ready date is spring 2009. I do not want to rush the finish work, and I have a lot of committments that make spare time an issue. Although if there is anyone in the NYC metro area that can lend a hand (especially for the mechanicals, the finish time will shorten.
I'm planning on finishing the rough body work, and making the car road worthy before painting. I want all or at least as many of the mechanical bugs known/fixed. Once I paint it and install the interior, I don't want to have to touch anything.
1) Set ride height
2) Aligment
3) Install Stoptechs
4) Fix ABS light (it goes on after I drive a couple of minutes)
