Wait a minute. Since there are a lot of us on here doing the 2jz or in my case the 4g63 swap, cant we try to get a group buy started on that Tech 2 hood? I mean, that $1,000 plus shipping is ridiculous.

Oh my bad man. I'm so not up on all the text message/internet abbreviations. I just learned what LMFAO meant last week...pretty sad man, I know. But I'll do some investigating and let you know.

It could be done, would just need to possibly align the shifter and have a custom DS and tranny mount made

Saw you at IMSTAR. Car looked good, but you need to get that thing off the line think i saw like a 11.58 pass but not mph. Also what are you reving to? Sounds like you shift early. But if you can rip that thing off the line and bang some gears i think 10's should be no problem. Also i wanna race your FD with 2jz vs my FD with rotary. I had 467rwhp but should be over 500rwhp with this setup should be good. Im gona try to have it out for Imports vs domestics.

We can deffinitely have a race

The issues I was having yesterday, lets see. first pass my 2step was set at 3500 for street driving, bogged bad, 2nd pass it was cutting out, wasn't sure why, guessed boost cut, turned the boost down, but it was just up slightly enough to give it to me on the next pass to so I let off and coasted down the track. 3rd run I had a great run but I had to let off around the 1000ft mark so I didn't break out, I ran 11.5 at 107 coasting, that wouldv'e been a low 11. I ran 11.5 at 125 on my last run getting knocked out due to a sloppy RT.

The issue with this car is gearing, I go through the traps in 6nd, I have to launch in 2nd gear, it is insanely hard to drive I have to launch in 2nd and I usually hit revlimit in 2nd because it comes up so fast. I decided enough was enough and started ordering pieces for my cobra rear this morning, I can't take this gearing haha. When the new rear is in it will be a monster

I am revving to 8k but it doesn't help me hold out the gears too much haha

The one and only problem right now is the gearing, finishing it ASAP!

Ill let you know when mines finished, doubt ill be able to keep up but ill try lol i still have a/c full interior ect. so im still around the 2800lbs mark but i am single turbo so i lost a little weight.

I probably weigh more than you so that will make up for it haha, plan for the car now is to do the rear before import vs domestic then after that pull the motor, fix a couple small oil leaks check everything over than get ready for the IFO series next year, going to be traveling aot since it's the only event I can race in a heads up class in

Thats cool. Yea mine is more of a street car i i usally just take it to the track for fun(capitol mainly on fridays). Im just gona get tires and over the winter redo all the bushings and get some konis. I just want to hit a real high 10 with full interior and a/c and ill be happy for now. If i want to go faster ill build a t2 since i want to keep the FD a street/show car and have fun with it. If anything i want to auto x it and get some driving experience under my belt.

Awesome, plans were to keep this a street car, but as I did the swap, I realized, hey I can ditch this, save weight AND make the swap simpler, so I ended up ditching everything, I want to do some HPDE with it, once I get my maval rack in atleast. I would've built this car with much more of a handling curve if I didn't have my s2000 to satisfy that need

LeeC, can you do me a favor? Snap a pic of the front of the engine (cam gear sprockets specifically) from the side. So I can see how far it sticks above the fender line.

I'm considering a 2JZ swap, but the thing holding me back is the fact that the Tech 2 swap has to use their hood. IMO; that hood slaughters the front lines of the rx7. So what I’m considering, is to use the Tech 2 swap kit, and cut and reweld the sub frame to drop the engine down a bit. And just use an inboard bump steer correction assembly. Or I’ll just get new knuckles cast.

I know my CF hood has about 2in or more clearance above the fender line. I just don’t know how far the 2J sticks above the fender line.

Thanks a bunch
