Just another 2jz FD Thread...
Well if you are using the FD steering rack...it will fit. The kit has a little less than an inch of correction built into it. If you need more there are shims that can be used to shim up the tie rod assembly. You should measure the amount the rack will be lowered and set the kit to have the corresponding amount of correction.
Gearing is a big reason people use the 5spd, not to mention cost. The 6spd Supra I believe has a 3.03 or so rear end ratio, while the FD has 3.90-4.10 depending on if you have auto or 5spd.

Mainly going to stick to drag racing with it
LSX would've been awesome, but I just wanted to do something different, yes it's an iron block motor, however it will be minus AC, wiper motor, HEAVY stock twins + Intake Mani, heater core, ac and blower under the dash. There will be a bit of weight off of the front to make up for it. Not to mention I will of course be having the car corner balanced right after I'm done. I honestly don't see it handling bad at all, I could be wrong, but this car isn't going to be a strict road course/autox car. I might do a couple events for fun but nothing serious, plus I have a WRX I'm preparing for the autox season

I really like these swaps! The V8 is just easy. I admire people who take something more unique.
I think the FD would be great with the S54 BMW e46M3 engine. If you could get it to fit. It is lighter than the LS1, the tranny is lighter and more refined, and the engine makes good power and revs to 8000rpm. I think that is the engine a car like the FD is designed for, it would be great if you could get it to fit and work properly but it is hard so no one has tried it. I bet the subframe modifications would be similar to what it takes to run a 2jz, but easier because you dont have a turbo or intercooler...
My car corner balanced nicely. I was very happy.
Good luck moving forward and takes lots of pictures.

Any progress?
I'm highly interested in your thread.
One, your FD is white like mine.
Two, you are doing a 2JZ swap, like I had originally intended to do.
I had the 2JZswap.com kit, but I had to trade it away several months ago.
Good luck!
< 2 years to go, and then I'll finally be starting my own thread!

Nice build. I'm planning on the 2JZ swap into my 94 White FD also, but probably with a built powerglide. I'm curious why you decided to go with the 6-speed Getrag if you plan on drag racing the car? Or is it going to be mostly a street car with a few trips to the 1/4 mile? Either way, I'm excited to see more progress, and it will give me even more of a kick in the butt to start my swap.
you will love the getrag 6 speed. thats what i have in mine also. although the gearing in the 6 speed paired with the ratio in your fd diff, you will have to shift a lot. im going to either swap mine out for a 8.8 or maybe even the new ford 9" irs that titan just developed? havent decided yet?

A little update - Deicded to put the exhaust manifold and exhaust housing of the turbo on today, the manifold took a LONG time due to fitment issues with the stock exhaust studs, had to take it on and off 3 times but she is finally in place and ready to go!
Hopefully tomorrow or tuesday I will have the rest of the turbo in place and a new pic for you guys
Also, just waiting on a flywheel and the motor will be bolted to the trans and it will be in the car!! Aiming for having it sitting in the car in 2 weeks!

Little update for you guys!
The only parts I need are -10 valvecovers and AEM. EVERYTHING else is here or on it's way. Looking like the car will be done for OC!
Anyway, got the FW,, clutch and tranny mounted today, it was very very easy, even for the first time doing it, it could easily be done in about 45 minutes

I'm using the boost logic manifold. I have to say, this motor was pretty much cake to put in... It should be much easier if I had to do it again but overall it wasn't hard at all!
