I am in the process of doing this swap as well. Here are my responses to your questions...

Yes

This was OK on my K-member, so no modification necessary.

OMG... This was a huge PITA. Fitment was not good at all on mine. There was some serious tweaking to get them to fit.

I did, however, get my car started (running) tonight! It fired right up on the first crank. I still have some exhaust and intercooler fabbing to do, but it is getting close.

No guide hole issues, but yes the control arms were a huge PITA, however, remove them from the hub and they slide in with ease!

Exactly what kind of problems were you having with Tech2's subframe? It sounds like the guide holes that engage into the frame is sometimes not large enough? And what's the problem with the lower control arms? Are the mounting points not accurate so you guys couldn't slide the arms into the subframe?

Thanks,

Howi

On my case the two guide holes needed to be enlarged a tiny bit. The lower control arms were a little bit of a problem because just the way they go in. It wasnt a huge deal though. A little bit of hammering took care of it

You guys had to shave the guide holes down? On my guide holes i didnt need to make them bigger, the only one i had a problem with was the back left hole that i just needed to hammer in lightly

Are you using a geddy intercooler? I have the same one I think. I bought it before I decided to go with the swap. What radiator is that from?

Does anyone have any isdea's on how this swap is going to affect the overall handling of the car? Ive been looking into doind this swap just not wanting to compromise any handling.

I can put ALL the bench racer critics to rest on this topic. The car weighed 2820 when I had the rotary on a basically stock setup.

it now weighs 2680 (yes, lighter) Granted alot of stuff was removed, but not a damn thing came off of the back half of the car. All the weight was from under the dash and forward. I haven't corner balanced it yet but I predict it being almost identical if not more rear biased than stock. Also, if one were to just do minor weight mods with this swap such as going single, yet keep creature comforts. I see this being almost identical in weight and weight distribution to a stock fd. The car handles great, it's only downfall being a looped line rack, not converted to manual yet, and sloppy jello motor mounts, once those 2 issues are fixed the car will deffinitely see summit.

BTW that 4g swap is nasty, I love it

This doesn't surprise me at all. I know a guy with a TWIN TURBO V8 in a FD that weighs less than stock with the rotary. I dont mean to start rotary bashing, but everyone talks about how light that rotary is, but it seems there is some extra weight somewhere. Maybe stuff to make the rotary run(harnesses, sensors etc)...I dunno. I haven't weighed it yet, but I know mine with the 4G63 in it is waaaay lighter than stock. Also get rid of that ABS bro, depower the rack(very easy, there are tons of writeups), and you will be good to go. Thanks for the props on my 4G swap bro, much appreciated. I would love to see a built turboed VQ35/37 swap. Anybody???....

I have a couple burnout videos and short flyby I made for fun after I did some logging, but they are .mov and haven't had a chance to convert them yet haha.

Someone will do a vq swap eventually haha, I really want to see a nice DD all motor vq swap with all the comfort features, would make a bad *** dd.

Also, I will be deleting ABS and depowering the rackk they are both top priorites right now before I start going for more power.

I drove to NY to pick up a nice rare exhaust yesterday but you guys will have to wait a little bit to see it

Hey I just saw your video, great job man..
I'm still debating which route to take with my fd but your vid just tip the scale a little more towards 2jz.
When getting your hood and which one are you getting?
