4G63 + B2600 Bell Housing + TII Tranny

yah yah, I'm talking about a piston engine, but this has to do with a TII tranny so thats why it's here in the 2nd gen forum

from my understanding Mazda B2600 trucks used Mitsubishi 4G64 engines and basically TII tranny's
and also, as fas as I have read, is that if you take a 4G63 (Talon engine) bolt it upto a B2600 Bell Housing it will fit a RX7 Tranny and wola, 4g63 rx7 with obvious modifications to engine parts

no, I dont plan on doing this.. I just want more info on this.. all I have found is one thread talking about it..
has anyone ever done this? or any confirmed information?

You could also use the 2.4L 4g64 wideblock.

yep, thats what I had planned..

now I just need to find a old truck that has one of those bastards.. it will make it easier to use the 4G64, build it, and throw a turbo head on

I assume thats the 4g64 clutch and flywheel in there? do you know if the ones on 4g63's are the same?

Some non-US Starions came with a variant of the 4G63 and they should have a rear sump oil pan. If you are serious about this, you might want to give Buschur racing a call or email. They had a kit for throwing 4g63s in Starions/Conquests and I'm sure they could lead you in the right direction.

yah, austrialian stareons had 4G63B's (Wideblock) and so did some trucks but they were non turbo and probably hard to come by..
and yes a oil pan and sump would be a problem, but probably easy to fabricate.

and I'll look up Buschur racing!, thanks.

I also discoverd that you can use aftermarket 4g63 pistons with the 4G64.. they just have to be .60 over, which are avalable from anyone.

yah, but will it fit without hitting the rx7 subframe?
does anyone have any pictures of one installed? I still have yet to find any.. I want to make sure the head will clear the firewall while keeping the tranny in the stock location. In that picture the cam angle sensor seems to be sticking out alot!

You on your own on that. I believe that it will clear, but I have no desire to do this kind of swap, just passing on what info I know. I deal setup is a wideblock 4g64 with a turbo 4g63 head on it. 4G64 is basically a 4G63 with IIRC 2mm higher deck height and bit more bore.

If you go junkyard diving you should almost enough parts make everything close.

If you like, I might be able to take some messurements this weekend. Just tell me what you need.

I just want to know if the width of the B2600 bellhousing is larger or smaller than the stock rx7 bellhousing, I just looked in my car (N/A so it does not have a removeable bellhousing) and judging by that picture, if the width is the same, then the engine should clear the firewall just fine.

but depending on the width of it, that will change the position of the engine. either closer of further away from the firewall. but from where the back of the rotary is sitting right now, it looks like there should be just enough room.

I don't have a B2600 bellhousing, but I can measure a wide block 4G64 though.

Buschur racing makes a RWD conversion for the 4g63 now. Everythign needed to convert your Eclipse/talon to RWD. I'm sure he would sell selective parts from the kit. 4g63 is an awesome powerplant once the ECU is replaced. Once you've gone stand alone that engine becomes totally bad ****! More ifor on this swap pls!! I wouldn't mind having one to keep my GN swap company.

yah, what I need to find is a 4g63B out of an australian starion.. I'm thinking about going this route..
I can get the engine for about $1500 cdn.
the 4G64 route is a good one, but now I'm thinking it will be too much work to find internals.

whats the engine code from your starion?

Too much work to find internals? The pistons are 4g63 overbored (.030 I believe) and the rods are exactly the same.
