My Junkyard find rx-4
So been a couple of years since my last post as unfortunately I had to sell my fd after 10 years and it was just to painful to stay on the forum and see all those beautiful rotaries when I didn't have one... Anyhow a lot has changed in my life and I moved back to Greece 3 weeks ago... Within a couple of days I spotted and RX4 outside a Junkyard... Talked to the Junkyard guy ... Turns out he bought it 10 years ago and wanted to restore it but never came around to do it. So I bought it and brought it home.
Enjoy the pics and more to follow

Tiny update...
Ok so found a little time today and got to work....
car hasn't run for 12 years and previous owner had messed with all kinds of electrical stuff .... So I removed as much as possible of the alarm system and rewired the ignition ... Then I had to remove some rust from the fuse connections as I wouldn't get power to the fuel line..... Finally had spark and after replacing fuel filter and too really crunchy fuel lines.... fuel.... Unfortunately too much fuel as it was pissing out of the air vents of the bowls and flooded the carb .... It's my first carb so Had to do a little investigating.... I seem to have understood how it works or at least I think I have so I narrow it down to the float needles at this point which makes sense as the car stood for 12years and had no gas in it.... Anyhow the engine started right up with fuel poured into the carb by hand and ran which is at least a little accomplishments....

Yesss, I was really proud in that moment .... I investigated a little bit further today and took the top cover of the Nikki carb off to inspect the needles.... It was the floater that was stuck on the bottom through some rusty residue from old fuel I guess and dirt out of the Gastank and therefore the right needle wouldn't close and caused the carb to overflow... Cleaned up the insides of the bowls and cleaned the floater and now the carb doesn't overflow anymore and holds fuel. So engine wise it does make a great impression as it idled perfectly fine and seemed good in general... Of course I will check compression and have a closer look at everything but for now it runs which is a big plus considering I payed next to nothing for the car.

I start to think that at a junkyard you can find everything. I even bought my first car at a junkyard. I was seventeen years old, and my father wanted to buy some details for his Chevrolet at a junkyard. While we were there, someone came to all for scrap an old ford. I told my father that it looks cool, and he said that I get this car if I want. I was delighted when he bought it because it is the best first car ever. It was technically good, but the body was all in rust. I have it for two months and then sold it for scrap to some people in Manchester.

All right really sorry for taking so long to post an update guys but life has been a little challenging since moving back to Greece and starting over from absolute zero is taking its time and effort... I have been stayed busy with the car though so there is some progress to be shown. I dissasembled the whole car and it is currently at the paintshop getting painted
Progress is a bit slow since I spent a lot of time cutting out rusty bits and welding in new sheet metal ... Removi go rust in general.... cleaning and reconditioning bits and parts... It is e tedious process but we'll worth it.

Have had some progress done. Car is back from painter and painted in its original colour. I am stoked with the outcome and have now began to reassemble everything taking my time to refurb as much as possible of the 1 million bits I have lying around.

Update: Finally got the truth of the situation from their legal counsel. The Japanese partner in Japan that was responsible for acquiring and shipping the vehicle ghosted them. I learned this on Friday November 19, 2021 for a car that I have a contract on February 5, 2019 or 1,018 days later! They wanted me to sign a release form which so far I have refused to do in order to get a refund of the $58k that I sent them 1,018 days ago. Release form would prevent me from sharing with the community the facts of how Right Drive Canada handled this situation.
If they had simply told me that 3 weeks or 3 months after the auction (way back in 2019)I would have been disappointed but understood and gone and tried again as long as they refunded the money. Instead Right Drive Canada just pretended the car was going to arrive (I have so many texts from their owner with information that cannot possibly be true) and has held onto my funds for 1,018 days (actually 11 more as of today) and won't do any of the following:
-They won't deliver the car I purchased (if they did I would sign the release form)
-They won't deliver a similar car even with relaxed mileage (if they did I would sign the release form)
-They won't offer a refund equal to the amount of their own far inferior vehicle that's in inventory ($101,468.90) or 129,995 CAD. (if they did I would sign the release form)
Their car for sale: https://www.rightdrive.ca/vehicle-in...7-spirit-r-635
-They won't give me a refund and allow me to speak the truth of what happened. (I will accept a refund without additional compensation only if they allow me to share with the world how they handled this situation).
So at the moment waiting to hear back from them as I listed the above 4 options as outcomes that I will accept.
Stay away unless you're just buying off their lot.
Thanks,
Dan
If you click on their inventory link on their webpage you get this offer to have them provide "private ordering". Well that's what I did and it didn't go so well.
