my 94....Corvette
even though i'm a rotary guy at heart, i have been building and racing Corvettes for a few years. not everyone will like the car, but i love it! while it can't however take the place of my RX-7, its still a very fun car to drive and a great replacement for my 84 Corvette that i sold a couple years back. awhile ago, pulled the plug and bought a 94 6spd Corvette. i bought it and had it shipped in from MA. its a two owner car and was originally sold new in FL on 11-2-93. according to the original paperwork supplied with the car, the original owner bought it for himself as a 50th birthday present, as his birthday was 11-2-43. the car came to me from the second owner and was not running. i replaced the opti spark, the coil, the ICM, and plugs and wires and the engine runs SUPER strong. clutch is starting to slip but that's a fix for another day. i can tell you how much of an improvement in sheer power and acceleration the car has over my old 84 4+3. i have a couple pics that i have on my phone and as soon as i can upload pics to my photobucket from my computer i will post better quality pics. something with my adobe reader is screwy and not allowing the upload function to start. anyways, here are a couple pics from my phone. will post more as soon as i can:

thank you for the compliments! it was in poor shape when it came to me. non running and it looked as if the previous owner used the interior as a garbage can and ash tray. interior has been cleaned and is presentable. engine bay looked as if it had never been cleaned.. the exterior was filthy and the paint felt as if it hadn't seen wax in a decade.
seeing as i believe this was the original owner's 50th birthday present, i'm sure the car was at one time well cared for. i always restore cars to their original state and bringing this one back has been fun and the car driver super nice. it makes for an excellent stablemate to my RX-7!

Is that oil light a "turn key 2 clicks forward, right before it starts, and pump the gas pedal 3 times all the way to the floor" or is it a "take fuse box cover off and press the button with the key 2 clicks forward"? Just curious - I've never seen that kind of light.
I've always been a fan of 'vette's as well. I drove a 25th Anniversary 1978 Corvette with the 4spd automatic and an LS1. Since then I have always wanted one and will someday get one. Nice car, congrats!!!

the dreaded change oil light...there is a sequence of buttons you press on the dash to reset it. the digital speedometer also incorporates digital readouts for volts, coolant temp, oil temp, oil pressure, fuel mileage, range, average mpg, current mpg in addition to the speedometer. just basically adds a little number next to the speedo and a description of what the number is below the speed.. anyways, there are buttons to the right of the cluster that you press to display each separate readout. there's a certain sequence that must be pressed in order to reset the light. i will reset it when i change the oil next pay day. it could use it.
mileage is slightly higher than whats pictured. i took the car on a cruise after that pic was taken, but the mileage does not exceed 102k. i can tell you that the car accelerates like it was rear ended by a freight train. it has the LT1 which was rated at 300hp and 340 ft/lbs of torque. first time i jumped on it, all i did was laugh and smile. the 0-60 time is about 5 seconds, though Chevrolet claims 4.9 secs in the promotional video that came with the car. all i can say is that the engine never feels like its out of breath and the car is super fun to drive.. it handling is razor sharp, as the car is equipped with the FX3 selective ride control. you can adjust the stiffness of the shock absorbers over three different levels. i need to get a different variety of pics and post those up as well.

looks great! i might have been of an impressionable age when those were new, but i think that update is my favorite of the newer vettes

not much of an update, but yesterday i was sitting between my cars in the garage having a dr. pepper when i remembered that when i had removed the coil and ignition module assembly a few days ago, i forgot to clean and install new thermal grease on the heat sync, icm, and coil mount:
so, i hopped up and removed the coil and ignition module assembly and cleaned each part carefully by hand and reapplied the proper GM thermal grease:

Always thought the greenhouse on the C4 was a pretty direct ripoff of the first gen RX-7. Same with the C5 and third gen RX-7. Nice car though. Interior is 90s styling at it's worst! :p

the greenhouses are very similar between the cars and an SA was used as a comparison vehicle when GM was designing the C4. its kind of the same idea when you wonder if Mazda used design cues from the F-body Camaro and the Porsche 944 when designing the FC. did they? probably.. but Mazda gave the FC a lot of its own distinguishing features. as for interior styling, yea its a pretty bold 90's statement. it is comfortable and full of creature comforts, but the plastic is cheap. a long time complaint of Corvette owners.

FD's are an amazing car, but the maintenance costs are too high for what limited budget i have. if i need to replace an engine on an FD, which would probably be likely at some point of ownership, i would spend no less than $4000 for a new or rebuit unit. if the engine goes in the Vette, which is not as likely, a replacement is less than $2000. plus, i don't have to deal with turbochargers, one of the reasons i sold my 10AE. not that they don't perform well, its just that they are prone to failure and are expensive to replace. there are far less things to worry about with the Corvette and after owning two and autocrossing multiple Corvettes, i have learned that they give a huge bang for the buck, are reasonable (in some areas) to repair and parts are plentiful. for now i will continue to drive and enjoy the 85 that i restored and after i build a shop on my property, i will buy and restore a 93 R1 in CYM.

Nice vette Dave. I too owned a 95auto and then a 96 LT-4. The LT4 was a hoot to drive. A lady pulled out from behind a line of cars and I tboned her. Sold the vette and bought an FD. Both my vettes were torch red. Love that color.
The only thing I hate about these cars is the brakes. If it would have had better breaks I may have never sold it. It had 4000 miles on the clock. Wait I think there's a tear running down my cheek. Gotta go look in the garage.
Your vette looks great for the mileage by the way.
