Might Be Adding Another GLC to the Fleet

Went to go look at this one today as it was pretty local to me.

http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/2899469018.html

Owner is asking a lot in my opinion, but they are not exactly growing on trees these days either. Car is a solid starting point, but def a long term project that would lend itself to the full treatment. Even the rockers were in pretty good shape. The car is complete minus headlights, grill and tails. Everything else is there, just not bolted to the car. Made him a offer of 2 grand, more than I wanted and(exactly what I paid for my GLC in better shape) and says he will get back to me by next week since he has others "lined up" to come see the car and he wants to see what kind of offers he will get from them

I have seem a few for sale in Florida in decent shape even already converted to rotary in the ball park of what my offer was, but certainly not the 3grand that he is looking for. And by the time you factor in shipping the car to NY it can get pricey quick.

Looking for opinions...did I offer too much??? too little??? Its difficult to gauge the value of these cars since there was really nothing special about them. The equivelent of a starlet in my opinion...a fun project car that really isnt anything special in its own right. Rx2's and 3's etc seem to be the cars holding the numbers right now as well they should.

I'm on the fence with this one.

Since you already offered 2000, stay at that. Should of started at 1000, and played it from there.

I agree...2k is all I'm willing to spend and I felt it was prob 500 more than what I thought it was worth...this was a little tougher because the owner has an idea of what the car is...I could also mention that it starts runs and drives as well even though these four bangers are sad little turds.

Your argument can be that finding the parts that are missing will be very hard.

There is a super clean 79 automatic original for $1900 in Puerto Rico right now. So 2k is plenty for this one

Real men use "duct tape" or "electrical tape" to stop a large cut from bleeding.

Maybe I am spoiled, living out here in Seattle, where they don't use salt on the roads, but cars here just don't rust much. My friends are finding early RX-7s with virtually no rust here. I have owned a few of the RWD GLCs, and I would not pay more than $500 for that hulk, certainly if parts are missing. After all, it is not an R100.

The 808 looks like a better deal for sure.

Stilletto...I have seen pics of your collections....you are def spoiled... As far as the 808 wagon, that was geared toward Jibaro since it is in the Chicago area. The owner of that refuses to sell to anyone except a local. He sent me additional pics and it is a hell of a deal. I hope someone here jumps on it.

To the GLC...I WILL PASS on it. After spending the last few days listening to everyone's opinions and scanning other "for sale" ads, I agree that there are better candidates out there for less money.
