13B-REW 510 Build

We received this project a little while ago. The owner had it at another shop that had closed down and was unable to complete the car before doing so. We are going to go step by step to getting this car in proper running shape.

First step is to get it running. We are going to remove the OEM ECU and wiring harness. We will be making a new engine harness and integrate it into the chassis. We will be using a modified Series II AEM EMS. The first pic is as it came to us. The second is it torn down getting ready to take measurements for the new engine harness. Pretty much everything under the intake manifold will be gone as well as all of the electronics on the drivers wheel arch. everything will be relocated into the cabin.

That's really nice. I went low tech old school 4 port 13B in a 510. 5" Camden, light steel flywheel, DLIDFIS. The owner loves it.

That shop went with stock twins?! Have fun with that.

It has the stock twins in parallel conversion. I would prefer sequential twins. Better low end torque.

This 510 harness wont be as bulky.

Where do we get those firewall connectors? What crimp tools are needed? How do you run the ignition through that connector to ensure no interference?

Sorry for all the questions, Ive seen those in rally cars and would love that for a couple of my setups. Makes pulling the engine VERY simple.

PM me about the firewall connectors. The crimp tool is a DMC Crimper. DMC is the manufacture. I usually run LS coils. These you don't have to worry about interference. Since I will be using the factory coils for this car I will mount the igniter in the engine compartment. The igniter and everything coil related are always shielded wire. I have never had any issues with interference. You will see once I start assembling the harness.

Got the Majority of the parts I will be using last week. ECU, ECU Connectors, 12pos Trim Switch, Wideband UEGO. We have been so busy with other projects that this may not see any action for another week or so.

Looks like we will be going with the new MoTec CDL3 dash. The ecu will be sending CAN data like air fuel ratio, rpm, manifold pressure, battery volts, oil press, oil temp, ign timing, coolant temp, air temp. This will keep all of the gauges in one place. See them if I want or hide them if I don't. The MoTec conditional alarms will allow me to set alarms based on min oil pressure v rpm, max AFR v manifold pressure and high oil, water and air temp. The dash has gps for vehicle speed and built in odometer to comply with state regulations. Comes with LED sequential shiftlights. Another cool feature of the dash is its automatic gps lap timer. Just show up to your favorite track and the lap timer will work.
