Anyone in Spokane or Pullman?
Anyone around? The autocross season is starting up soon, so if anyone would be interested in going, or trying it as a first timer, let me know. The autocrosses are tentatively scheduled to be in Deer Park at the airport, but hopefully we'll get SRP back again for some higher speed and more exciting racing.
Also, if someone is willing to convince me I need an FC that would be cool too. I was pretty let down by the FB and the last time I rode in an FC I was about 10 years old.

Ah I've seen your car around...Red and loud right? Aaron said "that's tweak's car". The first event was yesterday and today, but AFAIK they haven't sealed the cracks at the airport yet and it's really cold up there (and snowing a little?) so I skipped it. Anyway the next event will be sometime next month, so the weather should be nicer then.

Right now would be very hesitant to race my car hard, as it is just a little NA, but I would definitly go up there to setup my suspension and make mazdaspeed happy. (I haven't sent in any results this season yet)
Keep me up to date, and let me know when the next one comes around. Is it SCCA? If it is next month, most likely I will be elbow deep in my 13b-re project and or in canada visiting my mom. Keep everyone up to date anyways.
BTW I have 3 extra FCs at home (Yakima) were you looking to get into one? Just wanted a body or what?

I'm not sure when the next event is quite yet (I'm not sure if anyone knows exactly :/). The club isn't SCCA, they're an NASA club but we run by the SCCA rules because it's easier for everyone, especially since a lot of the drivers here race in other (SCCA) clubs.
I wouldn't worry about whether the car is NA or not for autocross, until we get SRP there won't be many chances to put a whole lot of power down. As long as you're on reasonably OK tires you're good to go.
And yeah, I've been looking into getting an FC. I haven't decided if I can handle the MPG or not but riding in one or driving one might sway me one way or another. Ideally I'd want one that's mechanically solid but horrible looking, I can do bodywork and paint more easily than I can repair a car I know almost nothing about

Anyways, awesome, I'm not sure if I could live w/o my FC, but I am 1 engine away from getting rid of all my rotary stuff. If this next engine does not hold up, LSX.
About finding a mechancially solid FC with bad paint ... good luck. I would say that 90% of the FCs out there have some pretty annoying issues, just from age alone. Also they will require extra non-normal maintainace (regular oil changes blah blah) at least once a year. Something will break. So if you do not enjoy working on the cars, I really dont advise getting one. It gets expensive VERY fast if you can't (don't want to) do the work yourself.
Caution : Riding in a turbo FC with decent suspension will force you to buy one. If you don't have the money, resist at all costs.

Yeah they seem like they have some obnoxious problems. I don't mind maintaining cars though. I guess I'll have to see if a deal on an FC comes up. I think a turbo II would be too expensive for now, since nice ones are expensive and cheap ones will become expensive quickly.

Also, NA-T is always an option. (Getting an NA, and putting on the turbo intake, exhaust, transmission, blah blah, and such.) I have done it to two of my cars with great sucess. Did 184.5 rwhp with 4 psi boost. They died from semi user error but were the best bang for the buck I have ever spent. (vac lines blowing off while in boost killed one and an old 20 year old injector wire breaking and causing lean out boom for the other.)
