Deatailed the engine bay, opinions please!!

Well i got done last night at 4:00 AM. Still a few minor things to do, and eventually re-paint a few parts.

but what do you guys think, I'm not totally sold on the blue looms. they are ALMOST too bright.. but its growing on me.

What would you guys say?

looks too ricey, maybe an aluminum spoiler would go good with it too. Nah I'm just kidding no offense. But for real ditch the wires it's an 80's car not a ricer. civics look ok, not fbs.

The blue wires would look alot better if all of them matched...
But it's really personal opinion...
Give it a week and then do what you feel you like best, not what the guys on RX7club think is best.

Not bad. You even win the award for "worst mounting location for an accellerator return spring, ever".

Well I was being sincere, it does look good.

I spy a manifold bolt below the throttle linkage that would be far better. I'd suggest you make that spring a bit shorter and stiffer as well.

I think the "matching" comment refered to the difference in color among the plug wires, the wire looms, and the vaccum (?) line that runs from the firewall, towards the intake, and then away from the intake over the bell housing in the 004 image.

I was going to post that I thought it looked a little weird with the darker blue wiring and the lighter blues on the car... but I looked at it a couple more times, and, yeah, I think I like it. A darker blue might look even better, but it looks very fine as-is.

I like it, but you should put some on the spark plug wires too, so they match.

Iotus your car is gorgeous. I would think you would want the same appearance in your engine bay. Wire Loom to me is a teenagers pathetic attempt to spice up their *hack job*. If i were you i would take out ALL that wire loom and leave your wires where they are. You might consider taking multiple BLACK zip ties and organizing your engine bay wiring. When i look at your engine bay again it looks like a jungle. The color of the wire loom just makes those wires stand out like a sore thumb, and they're just kinda everywhere. Looks like Medusa is under your hood!

Seriously take them ALL off and post some pictures so we can see what it looks like them. I think your engine bay would look very clean with them off.

If you think you need to stick with the loom, go with black.

But again, this is just MY opinion.

I vote to kill the blue go black. I like a clean looking engine bay. Yours is clean but I would like to focus on the engine and aftermarket goodies. The blue is distracting and makes you focus on the wires. I just dont like looking at the wires I try to hide and minimize them in my car. Just my opinion. I would go with black so they blend into the enginebay.

Just another sugestion a 2nd gen fuse block would look really nice inplace of the fusibles.. If your messing with all the wire looms your halfway to replaceing the links

GREAT LOOKING CAR!!!!!!

So you're saying go bare wires?? hmm....

what i'd LIKE to do is do a hidden loom, run it along the very bottom frame rail on the inside, like the aussies do. but that would require a fair ammount of soldering. But i'm up to the job, i suppose it wouldnt be too big a deal!!!

I voted black as well, but its your car Geoff, dont do what we tell you. And hey, at least its not yellow.

On the throttle return spring. That is a pretty bad spot. First off, the engine does move in its mounts and your spring is on the firewall, bad idea. Secondly, I would personally use a secondary spring for saftey. Not fun to have a stuck open throttle. They sell dual springs, theyre cheap and they do the job.

But, hey, you got a master copy, so you should be happy!

Iotus, it's just too busy on that side...look at your passenger side of the engine and then your driver's side and then you'll see what I'm talking about. Completely eliminating all of the exposed wiring wouldn't really work, either, because of all the neat mechanical details you have in the engine bay. Go with a darker blue, change the plug wires to black and organize them better and it should all come together as an organized artistic piece when the hood opens. Man, I really love the stealth nature of your car. From the outside, it just looks like a nice, clean 1stgen, nothing to worry 'bout if you're in a 5.0.....
