Fuel pulsation dampener delete

I did a little search but could find anyone who's tried this, I'm thinking of getting rid of the Mazda pulsation dampener either with a generic dampener with a adapter but decided this might be a bit backwards.

So my latest idea is to replace it with a simple fuel pressure regulator, am I being completely stupid? Or will this still counter the 'hammer' effect without the dreaded fire risk? Also will give me a extra way to monitor the pressure and adjust it.

Ideas and insults equally welcome.

People have been removing them for decades.
If you have an FD FD3s Pulsation Damper Elimination
If you have an S4 FC 84-88 FPD Elimination Kit
If you have an S5 FC, it is molded onto the rail and is not removable.

Mines a FC s4, I'm just wondering if there would be any adverse effects in the long run, and I hope to be running around 450 at the wheels, do you think a pulsation dampener is necessary for around that power? Thanks for your reply.

There is a huge thread on this topic, with lots of data from Chris Ludwig. At that power level, yes, I would keep a PD in the system. Decades ago we didn't know any better and deleted with a banjo bolt. Low power cars likely won't experience any issue. You'll be redoing your entire fuel system at that level anyway, you can plumb in a Radium PD. Search.

At 450rwhp you will have an aftermarket FPR which has a built in dampener. We have a 450rwhp 13b-re Vert, not running any PD, with no issues at all. Also have a 700rwhp 20B FD, no PD no issues.
