fuel pulsation dampener
i have a 93 model. while doing a hose job i got all of them replaced except for one. its the one that connects to a nipple directly under the FPD, all thats left is just a small amount of hose on the nipple. i guess my ? is how do u get the FPD off. the 2 screws that hold it on are unreachable. also while trying to get the hose off i noticed some fuel seaping from the very top of the FPD, it was kinda bubbling from the center where a little plug seems to be. it was not enough to spill over, and i dried it up. worked on my car for a couple of days, no leak. as soon as i started messing with the previous mention hose the leak started. if its not suppose to do this than it will need to be replaced. thanks, brad

Brad, thats a common problem on FD's. You must replace the dampener, or you will suffer an engine fire. The part comes out very easily, just undo the fuel lines, there are 2 bolts on top of the primary injector housing, and 1 17mm banjo bolt on the end of the fuel line that connects to the secondary fuel rail. Then you can take the entire housing out of the car to replace the dampener. I also would check all of your injector o-rings, especially the ones right under the injector housing. Mine are bad, I have to go buy them tomorrow. It's also much easier to reach those 3 hoses with the injectors removed.
good luck,

thats not paint....
Yeah you will have to replace it, the screw heads are facing the firewall I think.... What I did was remove the ACV which bolts onto the lower intake manifold. After that I had enough room to get a pair of small vice grips, better yet needle nose vice grips, in there to turn the screws. Just clamp the grip around the screw head to turn it. If you need to, unscrew the secondary injectors that way you might be able to get a better angle.

i had the exact same situation as you. go order it now so you can get it when you are done with the rest of the hoses. at most dealers parts departments its a special order 2-3 day wait. i am going to pick mine up today.

hey, i just picked up my newly ordered pulsation dampener from the dealership. i am not at home to compare yet, but i noticed that it looks a little different. it has the rubber plug thing at the top still, but it doesnt seem to have any vacuum line coming out of it and no banjo bolt at the bottom. did i get the wrong part??? the mazda part number on the box is: n3a2-20-180 and it reads "dampner kit." im going to flip a bitch if it is the wrong part, my car has been in hibernation for over a week now...

The fuel pulsation dampener doesn't have a vacuum line that connects to it, but the fuel pressure regulator does. They look very similar. Maybe you got them mixed up?

okay guys nevermind, i was being retarded. i checked it out and i did get the right part. now im having so many problems getting the ****** installed...
the skinny clear plastic fuel line that goes into the valve under the pulsation dampener snapped at the nipple when i was pushing it aside to pull the fuel rail out. i tried for more than an hour to get the thing back onto the metal nipple, which protrudes out of a ring that wraps around and feeds into the valve, which bolts into the engine. i already got the fastener thing off the nipple, but the plastic fuel line is so skinny and brittle theres no way i am going to shove the damn metal nipple into the hose. i already tried heating it up, which didnt work. and in the process of attempting to shove it in, i broke about half an inch more off of the plastic hose, so now there is pretty much no more room for error.
what should i do now??? is there any way i can connect it still? in the case that i do have to buy the entire line from the dealer, can somebody please tell me the part number if you know it, or at least what the line is called??? i do not know what the other end of the line connects to. please help me out here guys...
