ID 5psi Turbo w/rebuild?

ok I have alot of questions of course but if I did stick a 5psi turbo in my 88 RX7 SE will it overheat my engine if I don't do a rebuild or should I actually do the rebuild?

I'm just curious because if I do have to rebuild I can order the stuff and rebuild it in the summer time or I can find the turbo put it in now during the winter time without heating problems?

I have to suggest that you start researching your questions,as you cannot just attach a turbo to an engine and call it a day.

You're better off just getting a Turbo swap for the amount of work involved.

Trust me just throwing a turbo in and calling it a day is to lazy for my taste but yeah I will make sure I do some research.

But I was mostly just asking the question without the actual intent of doing much to soon like in the far future once i've got the grasp of how the car and engine work and run.

You know what I mean?

Possible - Yes.

The question is, is it practical for your needs and what methods do you have to choose from? A swap, a custom setup etc. But then comes along managing boost and afr's - having a proper intercooler setup, a system to control the amount of fuel and oxygen each rotor receives, plumbing the turbo in etc. Then the power level of +5psi will get boring within 5 minutes and you'll join the rest of us in chasing higher power goals = $$$$$$$$.

There's no such thing as a "5 PSI turbo". There's only a "turbo" that is regulated to 5 PSI by a wastegate. And 5 PSI from the stock turbo is a hell of a lot different than 5 PSI from a GT40R.

The turbo really has nothing to do with over heating the engine, and over heating would be the most minor concern. The real issue is that tossing boost through the NA engine will blow the engine as the ECU won't supply enough fuel and will run too much timing. In order to run forced induction, you need a EMS system which can handle the conditions the engine is being asked to run under.

This is all well coverd in the FAQ, so here are the links copied and pasted from the FAQ for you:

Can I swap a Turbo engine/Jspec engine/13BT/etc into my Non Turbo?
Yes, check these links:

How do I add a turbo to my NA 13B?
What Turbo kits can I add onto my non turbo RX-7?
There are no longer kits formally made at the time of this post, however there are companies from time to time that do make available non turbo to Turbo Kits. Because most of these companies stop building the kits, or go out of business in short time, it is impossible to keep active links for them.

Most people that turbo a non turbo make their own kits:
Using the stock TII turbo, exhaust manifold with spacer, NA intakes and NA ECU:
