Thanks!

UIM/TB is off.

ECU is out.

It's "looking" downhill from here...going to gut the old harness now and pull through what's not needed...

Decided to call it a night...

6-7 hours of maybe 2-3 hours of actual labor v. me doing unrelated **** that had to be done...

Going to be picking it up again tomm morning. I'm going to see where the orig harness came through then just lay the new loom by it (not removing the old just yet). Ideally I want to retain every function of the car so I don't lose something like wipers or my tach...

Got these things wired:

battery+fuse
ground
4 injectors
O2

I need to verify which wires are which on the CAS and TPS...Hindsight, I should have labled them before removing...oh well.

Just printed out the FSM fuel section that actually had more about the wiring and sensors than the damned engine and electrical sections....

how far away from completion are you?

i was supposed to pick up an 85 rx7 gs today, but because of weather and my friend thats selling it to me broke his finger, i guess it has to wait till tomorrow. $110 for the whole thing. it swallowed an apex seal about a year ago, so its not running, but zach if you need parts let me know. obviously it will depend on what it is, but some of the stuff is getting thrown out like the rear axle with its drum brakes and non-lsd. the car had 122k on it and its the EXACT thing as mine, same color, same interior. cant wait to get it and start gutting the stuff out for my "project"

Looks downhill from here.

All I have to do is cut a gasket and finish up some wiring. I didn't get to work on it yesterday...

Also, before I slap the UIM back on, I'm going to go on a vacuum line hunt and replace any broken hoses.

i was going to donate it to the tech center in my area so they could actually see waht it was and have something to take apart/put back together. but if you need it, its yours. it swallowed an apex seal (thats what the previous owner before my friend said, and joe said it sounded like it was running on one rotor) i can put a battery in it any try to start her up, but i doubt it since its been sitting for over a year. if you need a bad motor though, its yours.

Either it has lost compression on a rotor, or a coil isn't firing. Sitting probably hasn't helped it build compression though.

Keep the diff around for me .

I can join the club with parts laying around, I removed the BAC (that gasket was FUSED) now I just have to pick up a nice long coolant hose to run to the throttle body (cause I don't want to do to the TB mod just yet, want to make sure everything runs first!)

Found and replaced 3 broken vacuum lines...I'm taking the longest out of anybody putting one in...

mine has so many wierd noises now that its warm, I swear I'm gonna jack the rear up and see whats going on, it sounds like something clanking on something, I dunno, and when I brake it feels uneven, like part of my tire is flatened.

and thats not including getting the tranny looked at again, and some either things that need fixing/replacing. Sigh, such is the life of an RX-7 owner.

i was talking to a good friend of mine, and she said the guy shes talking to has a (from what she described) s5 rx7. its down right now, and i dont think he knows alot about them, but she said she hasnt had it for long. she said it will start, but then it runs like ****, and he took it to a shop/dealership and they said its the "main computer" and it will run him 1k. i told her to tell him not to do it right away that someone might have an ecu i could get him for alot cheaper than 1k. does anyone have one they could sell me to sell to him? or think it might be something else? for some reason (i dont know alot about 2nd gens) but it might be something else. i havent seen the car, much less hear it run and i dont know how many miles are on it. im gonna try to talk to him and see if i can help him out, but i wanted to see waht yall think first. thanks

First, find out why the dealer thinks it's the ECU.

Odds are, rough running could be a vacuum leak.

I'd put good money that it's not the ECU.

Wilson, got those CDs!

Onepointone- Their is no telling how long this procedure may take. I'm taking my time but I hope to get it finished within a month or so.
